Loki and Scarlet Witch might get their solo Marvel TV series

Popular Marvel comics character Loki and Scarlett Witch are all set to get standalone TV shows that will air on Disney's new streaming video service. Actors Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the asgardian god, Loki, and Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlett Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe respectively, are expected to return for their shows. Disney is developing a number of limited series for its streaming service which is set to launch in late 2019, reported Variety. Other shows will feature superheroes who have yet to be given their own standalone movies. These new standalone shows will include six to eight episodes, but Marvel and Disney are planning to invest heavily with big budgets to rival those of other major studio productions. No writers or directors have yet been attached to the Loki or Scarlet Witch shows, but it is being reported that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would have a hand in developing the series.

Eddie Murphy in talks for 'Grumpy Old Men' remake

Eddie Murphy is in negotiations to star in the remake of classic romantic comedy "Grumpy Old Men". The new film, to be produced by New Line, will be helmed by Tim Story, the director of "Ride Along" movies, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 1993 original featured Oscar winners Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau as the two neighbours who have been feuding since childhood. Their battle only gets worse when a new female neighbour moves across the street. If finalised, Murphy, 57, will play one of the neighbours and the makers are hoping to rope in Samuel L Jackson for the other. Story and John Davis, one of the producers of previous "Grumpy Old Men" film, will also produce the project.

'Avatar: The Last Airbender' live-action series in works at Netflix

Netflix is planning to reboot the popular animated TV series "Avatar: The Last Airbender". The streaming giant has roped in original creators of the show Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are signed on to executive produce and run the new live-action series. Sharing the news of Twitter, Netflix wrote, "And I can confirm that the original creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, will be back to take on the live action." "This is what we've been training for all these years," it added. The original animated series aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon. It started in February 2005 and concluded in July 2008. The story follows Aang and his friends, who have to save the world by battling Fire Lord Ozai to end the war with the Fire Nation. The TV series was adapted for the big screen by director M Night Shyamalan in 2010 but the film bombed at the box office. Henry Golding, Emilia Clarke to star in romantic comedy 'Last Christmas'

"Game of Thrones" actor Emilia will star opposite "Crazy Rich Asians" breakout Henry Golding in a new comedy, "Last Christmas". The film, a holiday rom-com, will be directed by Paul Feig, best known for helming movies such as "Bridesmaids", "Spy" and "Ghostbusters". The screenplay will be written by Oscar winner Emma Thompson along with Bryony Kimmings, reported Variety. A release date and further information is yet to be known, though Golding suggested in a tweet on Tuesday that the film will shoot in London at the end of the year.
