Fix fair, remunerative price of Rs 5.5/kg for fermented organic manure: IBA

The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) has made a case for fixing fair and remunerative price of 'fermented organic manure' (FOM) at about Rs 5.5 per kg, excluding the government incentive of Rs 1.5 per kg, to support biogas plants in the country. The government has recently announced the Market Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme, under which the government approved Rs 1,451 crore for promoting organic fertilizers. Under MDA, the bio fertilizer coming out of a biogas plant -- technically known as FOM, the producers get Rs 1.5 for each kg, over and above the sale price of FOM. The IBA in a memorandum to the Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizer said that in the initial phase of improving the end-market linkage of FOM, it is imperative for the ministry to administer the fair remunerative market price for FOM. The IBA suggested a 'floor market price' at par with the Urea Retail Prices (presently at Rs 242 per 45 Kg bag), i.e. approx. Rs 5.5 per kg (exclusive of taxes). The market develop

Ministry of Agriculture approves launch of IFFCO's nano DAP fertiliser

Cooperative organisation IFFCO, which introduced nano liquid urea, said on Friday that the government has approved the launch of its nano DAP fertiliser in the market. IFFCO MD U S Awasthi tweeted that IFFCO's nano DAP has been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and notified in the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO) based on its encouraging results. "IFFCO will manufacture #NanoDAP; a game changer for Indian agriculture & economy," he tweeted. In December, Awasthi had said IFFCO would soon launch nano DAP at Rs 600 per 500 ml bottle, a move that would help India save foreign exchange and reduce government subsidy significantly. IFFCO was also planning to launch nano potash, nano zinc and nano copper fertilisers, he had said. In June 2021, IFFCO launched nano urea in liquid form as an alternative to conventional urea. Fertiliser marketing entities (FME), authorised by the government, have been allowed to file bill of entries at Indian ports for import of urea for agriculture purpose on government account, according to a notification of the commerce ministry issued on Tuesday. This new provision was added in the import policy condition of urea. A bill of entry is a legal document filed by importers or customs clearance agents on or before the arrival of imported goods. BJP responsible for fertiliser crisis: Bihar Agri Minister Sudhakar Singh

Bihar Agriculture Minister Sudhakar Singh on Saturday squarely blamed the BJP for the fertiliser crisis in the state, and alleged that the saffron party leaders were protecting those indulged in hoarding and black marketing of fertilisers. The RJD leader, while speaking to reporters, alleged that the BJP leaders at the Centre and those who were part of the previous NDA government in the state were responsible for the crisis. "The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) government came to power in Bihar barely a month ago. BJP leaders who had earlier held the Agriculture portfolio allowed hoarding and black marketing of fertilisers in the state," he said, referring to his predecessor Amrendra Pratap Singh. Farmers in certain districts of Bihar including Khagaria, Katihar, Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Purnea, Araria, Rohtas, Darbhanga, Buxar and Patna have been facing a shortage of fertilisers for quite some time due to its unavailability at designated fertiliser dealer shops, a senior offici
