Fire at Cambodia hotel casino still rages after 12 hrs, kills at least 11

A fire burning through a Cambodian hotel casino on the border with Thailand has killed at least 10, local media reported. The website Cambodianess, which belongs to the Thmey Thmey media group, reported the blaze at the Grand Diamond Casino and Hotel in the border town of Poipety broke out around midnight on Wednesday and was still burning Thursday morning. It cited Banteay Meanchey provincial Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Sithi Loh saying that according to initial information, at least 10 people had died and another 30 were injured.

Fire erupts in 20 shops in Mumbai's Kurla area; no injuries reported

A fire broke out in around 20 shops where scrap material and vehicle spare parts were kept in Kurla area of Mumbai on Wednesday, a civic official said. The fire brigade received a call at around 2.30 am about the blaze in the shops located near a bus depot in Kapadia Nagar, he said. There was no report of injury to anyone, he said. The fire was confined to the electric wiring and installations, scrap material and vehicle spare parts in an area of 400 to 500 square feet in 20 to 25 shops, the official said. Eight fire engines and other fire fighting equipment were rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused by around 8.30 am, he said. The cause of the fire is yet not known, the official said.

Several MLAs, MPs and other politicians took part in a massive protest here on Sunday to demand compensation for the Bhungra cylinder blast victims from the state government. Indian Army truck catches fire outside Udaipur due to malfunction

An India Army truck caught fire about 60 km from Rajasthan's Udaipur, ostensibly due to a technical malfunction, an official said on Friday. The truck was part of a five-vehicle convoy en route to the military station in Udaipur. A Quick Reaction Team of the Army swung into action and cordoned off the vehicle, stopping traffic on the highway, Defence Spokesperson Amitabh Sharma said. There was no loss of personnel or life. The Army personnel's prompt reaction also ensured no loss to public property or private vehicles, he said. Sharma added that the civil administration had also assisted with its resources for traffic management. The Army has ordered an internal inquiry to ascertain the facts, he said.

A massive fire that broke out at a wholesale market in the Bhagirath Palace area of Chandni Chowk was brought under control on Tuesday even as the cooling process is underway for the sixth consecutive day, officials said.
