G20 Science Advisers agree to work on draft document: Ajay Kumar Sood

The G20 Science Advisers' Roundtable first meeting here on Wednesday agreed to work on a draft document incorporating inputs of all participating countries. "There was agreement to work on a draft document by further refining the concept note, incorporating inputs offered by the rest of the countries over the next two or three months. It will be circulated among the participating countries so that a draft document is ready by August when we meet again in Brazil," Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India Ajay Kumar Sood said at a press briefing here after the first day's deliberations. The first day's agenda of the meeting was focused on opportunities in 'One Health' including human, livestock and wildlife health, open access of knowledge, bringing traditional knowledge base of marginalised and tribal communities into the mainstream following the principle of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility and having a scientific inclusive policy framework in which all .

G20 expert group formed for strengthening multilateral development banks

Under the aegis of India's G20 Presidency, a 11-member expert group has been set up to suggest measures to strengthen multilateral development banks (MDBs). The finance ministry in a statement said Professor Lawrence Summers ( President Emeritus, Harvard University) and N K Singh (Former Chairperson, 15th Finance Commission of India) are co-convenors of the G20 Expert Group on strengthening MDBs. The panel would work on making a road map for an updated MDB ecosystem for the 21st century, touching upon all aspects of MDB evolution, and mechanisms for coordination among such banks to address and finance global development and other challenges more effectively. The panel would also evaluate various estimates regarding the scale of funding required by and from MDBs for addressing their and member countries' increased financing needs for SDG and transboundary challenges. The expert group will submit its report to the Indian Presidency of G20 before June 30, 2023, the ministry said.

Water resource management vital for nation's development: Official in G20

Holistic water resource management is a pre-requisite for the development of a nation, a senior official said at the 2nd meeting of the G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group in Gandhinagar on Monday. NDMC plans activities related to India's G20 presidency in schools

The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has planned various activities in its schools aiming to support the government's ongoing efforts of making India's G-20 Presidency a success, officials said on Monday. Activities like poster making, painting and drawing competition, speech competition, quiz (round-I), essay competition, debate and quiz (round-II) will be organised till November 2023 for the students from Class 6 to Class 8, Satish Upadhyay, New Delhi Municipal Council Vice Chairman, said. He said month-wise activities have been scheduled to create awareness about G20 and its significance under India's Presidency. A dedicated G20 day shall be celebrated before the last working day of every month. New bus queue shelters in Delhi to be vandal-proof: Kailash Gahlot

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot has said the new bus queue shelters with digital screens to display bus routes will be theft-proof and vandal-proof. Presenting the Delhi Budget 2023-24 in the assembly on Wednesday, the minister had announced the AAP government's plans to construct 1,400 new and modern bus queue shelters (BQS) across the national capital. "Besides providing a comfortable waiting area for bus commuters, these bus shelters will also have a static display of bus routes and digital screens displaying the arrival time of buses. In view of the G20 summit in Delhi, we will complete this work in a phased manner," he had said.
