Water level of different rivers in Bihar have started rising at several places due to torrential rain in the last 24 hours, officials said on Saturday. Light to moderate rain was recorded in many districts, including Banka, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Gaya, Jehanabad, Kaimur, Katihar, Khagaria, Munger, Nalanda, Patna, Nawada, Purnea, Saran, Sheikhpura, Siwan and Vaishali since July 4, according to the latest rainfall bulletin issued by the Water Resources Department (WRD). In East and West Champaran districts people living in low-lying areas have been shifted to safer places by the district administrations, they said. Three people, including a toddler, died in a wall collapse following heavy rain in Rajasthan's Bikaner and as many were rescued after being stuck while crossing a stream overflowing with rainwater in Tonk. Light to moderate rain was recorded in many districts, including Jaipur, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Chittorgarh, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Udaipur and Jodhpur on Friday, a spokesperson for the Jaipur Meteorological Centre said. PIL filed in Supreme Court over multiple bridge collapse incidents in Bihar

A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Bihar government to undertake a structural audit and set up an expert committee to identify bridges that can be either strengthened or demolished based on the findings. The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended six officials of civic agencies for gross negligence following road cave-ins and waterlogging at several sections of the newly-built Ram Path in Ayodhya. The newly-elected Lok Sabha MP from Faizabad, -Awadhesh Prasad, on Saturday demanded a high-level inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the construction of the 14-km-long Ram Path and the sewer lines beneath the road in Ayodhya. Delhi LG inspects city's worst-hit areas, drains after heavy rains

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena inspected the city's most severely affected areas and drainage systems to assess the damage caused by heavy rains, an official statement said on Saturday. Urban Development minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also visited East Kidwai Nagar and Golf Links to inspect the areas and resolve waterlogging issues despite these falling under the Central government-controlled NDMC, the Delhi government said in a statement.
