Woman killed in landslide, 4 others feared buried in Himachal's Kullu

A woman was killed in a landslide while four other members of her family are feared to have been buried under the debris in the Nirmand area of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district. Two houses were completely damaged following the landslide triggered by heavy rains around 1:30 am on Monday night in the Sharmani village of Ghatu panchayat in the district. One body has been recovered and four other members of the family are feared trapped in the rubble, said gram panchayat pradhan Bhoga Ram on Tuesday. Himachal Pradesh has experienced losses totalling Rs 4,080 crore due to cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides triggered by heavy rains from June 20 to September 7, officials said on Sunday. To date, 366 people have died in rain-related incidents and road accidents in the state. Out of the 366 fatalities, 203 were due to rain-related incidents, which include 42 deaths from landslides, 17 from cloudbursts, and 9 from flash floods. Additionally, 41 people are still reported missing, while road accidents have accounted for 163 deaths, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). The monsoon has caused significant damage, with a total of 6,247 houses, 460 shops and factories being fully or partially affected. The frequency of landslides has increased daily, with reports indicating 135 major landslides, 95 flash floods, and 45 cloudbursts impacting various regions of the state since the monsoon season began on June 20. Himachal Pradesh has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 4,079 crore following cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains from June 20 till September 7, officials said on Sunday. Himachal govt announces revised pay scales for nearly 14,000 employees

About 14,000 Himachal government employees serving in 89 categories will be affected by the HP Civil Services (Revised Pay) Second Amendment Rules 2025, notified by the government on Saturday. The amendment provides for omitting section 7A of the rules inserted on January 3, 2022, affecting about 14,000 employees, who would suffer a loss of between Rs 5,000 and 15,000 per month after re-fixation of the revised pay scale, with effect from January 1, 2016, Federation of Secretarial Employees Union Sanjeev Sharma said on Sunday. "We discussed the issue in detail with other employees' outfits and decided to meet the chief minister, chief secretary and Principal Secretary (Finance) on Monday and plead for withdrawing the notification regarding the amended Rules," he added. He said that the decision would impact the employees in the lower and middle sections.
