The Hotel Asian International in the Lutyen's Delhi was today acquired by the Bloom Hotel Group in an e-auction conducted by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). "The selected bidder will pay 39.50 per cent of the Gross Turn Over (GTO) or Rs 1.1928 crores per annum, whichever is higher," a senior NDMC official said. The NDMC had last year decided to re-auction the Asian Hotel, after sealing it in 2015 due to non-payment of licence fees dues. In January last year, the Asian Hotel was e-auctioned, fetching Rs 45.5 lakh per month as licence fee, the highest-ever for the agency. But, the bidder later refused to take the property necessitating a re-auction. The property at 1 Janpath, has 38 rooms and is situated adjacent to the Hotel Royal Plaza, Ashoka Road. A terminally ill New Jersey man says he got one of his last wishes fulfilled this week: to drink a cold beer and play a few more hands of blackjack at his favorite casino in Atlantic City. John Mudry and his family visited Bally's Atlantic City on Tuesday to fulfill one of the 71-year-old man's wish of having one last big day at the casino. The Press of Atlantic City reports Mudry visited the casino with help from his hospice caretakers and health care providers. Mudry's niece, Kelly Smentkowski, says her uncle has a rare form of non-treatable bladder cancer, and that he "didn't want to stay in the hospital anymore." More than 300 foreign delegates are expected to participate in the PATA adventure travel conference, which will be held in Rishikesh in February 2019, a senior official said. PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart 2019 (ATRTCM) would be hosted by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is a non-profit association working for responsible development of travel and tourism within the Asia Pacific region. "Uttarakhand won bid this time. The Bombay High Court today said the government's 'Make In India' function at Girgaon Chowpatty beach in south Mumbai in 2016, which had to be abandoned after a huge fire gutted the stage, caused "considerable destruction and damage" to the beach. It also asked the Maharashtra government to repair and restore the damaged portions of the beach within two months. A division bench of Justices A S Oka and P N Deshmukh passed the ruling on a public interest litigation (PIL) raising concerns of soil erosion caused at the beach due to erection of structures, and functions and rallies held there. "Beaches are an essential part of the environment. If beaches are polluted then it will violate the fundamental rights of the citizen guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution, which says a person has the right to live in a pollution-free environment," the bench said.
