Indians prefer long-haul foreign locations this summer: Report

With summer vacations fast approaching, most Indians are planning to head to long-haul international destinations with booking going up by 25 per cent compared to last year, said a report. About 50 per cent of the bookings are made by travellers in the 25-35 age group, according to the report by online travel company MakeMyTrip. "Long-haul destinations have registered higher growth this year compared to short-haul ones, with a significant 25 per cent growth in the number of trips year-on-year," said Mohit Gupta, chief operating officer, MakeMyTrip. Gupta said there has also been a significant increase in the number of people travelling this summer with 24 per cent more Indians travelling this season. The findings of the report are based on the bookings seen on MakeMyTrip platform for travel during the coming summer season (April-June), which coincides with the summer holidays in schools across India. Children's writer Mamta Nainy profiles Indian Art by covering a millennia of artistic expression in her new book as it time-travels chronologically through the many art schools and artistic periods. 2018 CWG gold-medalist Punam Yadav attacked in Varanasi's Rohaniya

Indian weightlifting Punam Yadav, who picked a gold medal in the ongoing 21st Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, has filed a complaint to police after she was attacked in Varanasi's Rohaniya.It is learnt that Punam was at her aunt's house when one of their neighbours attacked the weightlifter following an argument with them in Rohaniya.Earlier on day four of the Commonwealth Games, Punam made the country proud after bagging a gold medal in 69 kg weight category in weightlifting.Punam lifted100 kg in snatch and 122 kg in the clean and jerk to finish with a total of 222kg ahead of England's Sarah Davies (217 kg) and Fiji's Apolonia Vaivai (216 kg).In 2014, Yadav clinched a bronze medal in the same weight category at the 2014 Glasgow Games.

Andhra transforming its capital into world class city

In its post bifurcation scenario, the state of Andhra Pradesh is constructing a world-class city in its capital Amaravati.Approximately 3840 apartments in 61 towers are being built in the Amaravati capital region. Three companies - Shapurji Pallonji, Larsen & Toubro and Nagarjuna Construction Company are building these towers.Shapurji Palonji is building 21 towers - 1440 apartments for Type 1, Type 2 government officers and Group D employees. L&T is building 22 towers with 1968 apartments for NGOs. All these 43 towers are under construction at Nelapadu village.Nagarjuna Construction Company is building up 18 towers having 432 apartments for MLAs, MLCs and All India Services Officers at Rayapudi village.The Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development led by minister P Narayana is looking after this urbanization project.The complete construction of these buildings is expected to finish by the end of this year.
