Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday said it has tied up with Shell India to install 60 kW fast chargers across 36 of its dealerships in the country. The company has signed a memorandum of agreement with Shell India Markets Pvt Ltd in this regard, the automaker said in a statement. The strategic partnership aims to increase the expansion of charging infrastructure for battery electric vehicles in the country, it added. "Such strategic partnerships are fundamental in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles by customers to achieve the national goal of carbon neutrality," Hyundai Motor India MD & CEO Unsoo Kim said. Hyundai currently has an existing network of 72 electric vehicle dealers in 45-cities. Shell India Director Sanjay Varkey said the strategic partnership with Hyundai aims to improve the charging infrastructure for battery electric vehicles in India by offering easy access and dynamic availability for a safe, reliable, and seamless charging experience.

Hyundai Motor India on Monday said its total sales increased by 3.5 per cent to 58,201 units in April. The automaker had dispatched 56,201 units in April 2022. The company's domestic wholesales last month rose by 13 per cent to 49,701 units as compared with 44,001 units in the year-ago period. Exports, however, declined to 8,500 units last month from 12,200 units in April 2022. "This strong growth has been backed by an overwhelming response to the recently launched all-new Verna that has more than doubled its volumes from its earlier version," Hyundai Motor India COO Tarun Garg said in a statement. The automaker looks to carry forward this momentum with a soon-to-be-launched SUV, Hyundai Exter, he added.
Passenger vehicle leaders Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai Motor saw their market share dip in FY23 as compared with FY22 as they struggled with shortage of electronic components, according to automobile dealers' body FADA. Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Kia India on the other hand witnessed an increase in their market share based on the retail sales last fiscal. As per the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the retail sales of country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India rose to 14,79,221 units in 2022-23 fiscal, attaining a market share of 40.86 per cent. It had retailed 12,39,688 units in 2021-22 and grabbed a market share of 42.13 per cent. Earlier, the auto major had stated that it faced shortage of electronic components last fiscal with an order backlog of around 3.8 lakh units. Similarly, Hyundai Motor India saw an increase in retail sales at 5,25,088 units last fiscal, however its market share dropped to 14.51 per cent. It had sold 4,79,027 units

Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday said it will introduce an all-new sports utility vehicle in the country. The company currently sells models like Venue, Creta, Alcazar and Tucson in the sports utility segment in the domestic market. "Hyundai has been one of the forerunners to induce new mobility experiences and we are all set to once again excite customers with an all-new SUV that is coming soon to take you places," Hyundai Motor India COO Tarun Garg said in a statement. The company, however, did not share any details about the engine, or size of the vehicle. Built to bring out the explorer, this all-new SUV will evoke unfiltered experiences with advanced technology, superior safety and strong performance, the automaker said without divulging details. Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday said it has launched its sports utility vehicle Alcazar with a 1.5 Turbo GDi Petrol engine priced between Rs 16.74 lakh and Rs 20.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The trim comes with a six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic transmission. Alcazar would continue to be available with the RDE-compliant 1.5 litre diesel engine as well, the automaker said in a statement.

Hyundai Motor India is looking to tap growth opportunities in the rural areas with rise in demand for aspirational products like sports utility vehicles and feature-rich models, according to company's Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg. The country's second largest carmaker is looking to enhance presence in the smaller towns and rural areas with more sales outlets and also initiatives like deployment of mobile service vans. The automaker's sales outlets in the rural areas have crossed the 600-mark already and it has also increased its manpower to over 5,000 people in such places. Hyundai's sales in the rural areas has crossed the one lakh-mark last year. "Almost 18 per cent of our sales are now coming from rural areas. It used to be about 16.5 per cent. So, we have improved on that front. We touched one lakh retails for the first time last year. We now also have 100 mobile service vans in the rural areas," Garg told PTI in an interaction. Hyundai Motor India on Friday said its sales in the rural areas crossed one lakh-mark last year. The company said it has deployed its 100th Mobile Service Van (MSV) in Siliguri (West Bengal) to further strengthen its commitment to the rural markets. Hyundai Motor India Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said there was a growth of 17 per cent in the rural sales last year as compared to 2019. "We are confident that the company's growing rural network of over 600 outlets will act as a catalyst in enhancing customer peace of mind," he added. As upcountry customers demand more attention and care, the automaker has increased its rural manpower to over 5,000 in 2022, Garg said.
