IIT Mandi, France's INRIA develop AI for structural assessment of bridges

Researchers at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi and National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (INRIA) in France have developed advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and signal processing techniques to accurately predict structural health of bridges and other structures. These AI-based algorithms have broad applications, not limited to bridges alone, and can be extended to structures such as ropeways, buildings, aerospace structures, transmission towers, and various infrastructure elements requiring periodic health assessments and protection measures, the researchers claimed. According to officials, there are over 13,500 bridges across India. "These structures undergo natural ageing due to environmental factors like temperature fluctuations, and water and air exposure, compounded by heavy road traffic. Traditionally, assessing bridge conditions has relied on visual inspections, a method considered inadequate by experts. "It falls short in detecting

It has a symbiotic relationship with the degradation of the environment as well... which you cannot see right now but is there... "It is having landslides, cloudbursts and many other things again and again, these are all effects of cruelty on animals...people eat meat," Behra said while addressing the students, a video of which is doing the rounds on social media. "To become good human beings, what you have to do? No to meat eating," he further said and then went on to ask the students to vow not to eat meat.
