What could not happen in 60 years, PM Modi did it in 8 years: Anurag Thakur

Union minister Anurag Thakur said on Saturday that what Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accomplished in 8 years could not happen in 60 years before him, referring to India's historic lunar exploration mission Chandrayaan-3 and many central schemes. He said Modi pulled the country out of the clutches of dynasticism and appeasement, which prevailed for a long time, and put it on the course of development. We are the first country in the world to land a spacecraft on the Moon's south pole. It is a glorious moment for us. What could not happen in 60 years has been done in just 8 years by Modiji, said the minister for information and broadcasting and youth affairs and sports. Thakur was addressing a function here organised for the release of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas', a book volume based on a collection of select speeches of PM Modi. A peep into the country's history of the last 75 years shows that it was beset with dynasticism and appeasement but prime minister Modi .

Chhattisgarh CM writes to PM seeking release of Rs 6,000 crore

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking the release Rs 6,000 crore due to the state agencies related to rice under the decentralized procurement scheme. The "Government of India/Food Corporation of India" is yet to release outstanding payments of around Rs 6,000 crore to the state agencies, the letter claimed. The state government has to bear a huge financial burden in disposal of paddy left after depositing rice in the central pool (through FCI) and the Centre does not compensate the state for this disposal of surplus paddy, Baghel pointed out. In view of the seriousness of the situation, the prime minister should direct the concerned authorities to settle all outstanding payments in a time-bound manner, the letter said.

Nehru's vision of self reliance behind Isro's Chandrayaan success: Congress

The Congress on Saturday said it was Nehru's vision of making India self-reliant in the space domain, and his decision to not align with the great powers despite criticism, which has now yielded such rich dividends in space exploration. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said there has been a lot of commentary in Pakistan's media on the outstanding achievements of ISRO with a lament that the agency made such big strides even though Pakistan's space agency SUPARCO was set up in late 1961, a few months before India's INCOSPAR in February 1962. "What is not recognised is that from day 1 Nehru stressed SELF-RELIANCE, even as there were some voices in Delhi advocating greater American involvement and some others pleading for closer cooperation with the Soviets," Ramesh said on X. He said first Nehru, and then Indira Gandhi after him, were clear the space programme had to be designed, controlled, and executed by Indian professionals in the civil domain. In this, they were of course guided an
