Indian deportees from US arrive in Panama, embassy secures consular access

Panama has informed India about the safe arrival of a group of Indians deported from the US and the Indian mission in the country is working closely with the host government to ensure their wellbeing after obtaining consular access to them. The Embassy of India in Panama, Costa Rica & Nicaragua took to X on Thursday to share the information but did not provide data on the number of Indians arriving in Panama. The group of Indians is part of a larger group of 299 migrants sent to Panama by the US government. These people arrived in the country on three flights last week after President Jose Raul Mulino agreed that Panama would become a "bridge" country for deportees. Indian Embassy urges nationals in Congo to move to safer locations

The Embassy of India in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, on Sunday said it is closely monitoring the security situation in the central African country and asked all the Indian nationals in Bukavu to immediately depart to safer locations. The Embassy issued three advisories during the day and recommended that everyone prepare an emergency plan. There are about 1,000 Indian nationals in Congo. Rwanda-backed M23 rebels captured the eastern Congolese city of Goma and are looking at expanding their area of control. "There are reports of M23 being only around 20-25 kms away from Bukavu. Seasoned diplomat Jitender Pal Singh was on Friday appointed as India's new ambassador to Israel, a posting seen as important in view of the current situation in the Middle-east. About 60 Indian nationals rescued from scam operations in Cambodia will be repatriated, the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh said on Wednesday. "The Embassy of India in Phnom Penh is in touch with several Indian nationals who have reached out to us, and have been subsequently evacuated by Cambodian authorities from a place called Jinbei-4 on May 20," the embassy said in a statement on X.
