PDP stages protest against 'non-local voters' in J-K's electoral rolls

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday took out a protest march here against the inclusion of non-local voters in the electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir. Several PDP leaders led by the party's chief spokesperson Suhail Bukhari took out the march from the party's head office near Sher-e-Kashmir Park here. Bukhari said the protest was against the electoral demographic change being forced by the BJP through inclusion of imported voters in the J-K electoral rolls. He said the rights of the people of J-K are being trampled. They started the process of taking away the peoples' rights and diluting public will here on August 5, 2019 and now they have added a new chapter to it by saying they will add non-local voters. They are trying hard to change the identity, democratic rights, and electoral demography of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, but it is not acceptable to the people of Jammu & Kashmir under any circumstances, Bukhari told reporters. Taking a dig at PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks on the country's economy, the Jammu and Kashmir BJP said on Wednesday she was raising communal frenzy for petty political gains and to provoke people. Targeting the central government, the former J and K chief minister said the Sri Lankan economic and political crisis should serve as a wake-up call for India. What happened in Sri Lanka should serve as a wake-up call. Since 2014, India is being whipped into a communal frenzy & imagined fears. It is treading the same path of hyper nationalism & religious majoritarianism. All at the cost of disrupting social cohesion & economic security, Mehbooba tweeted. Reacting to her remarks, chief spokesperson of J-K BJP Sunil Sethi said, "Tweets of Mufti indicate her frustration on growth of India as the world leader and destructive situation existing in Pakistan, whose economy is in shambles as also its very existence. Those celebrating Pak T20 win over India will be jailed: J-K BJP chief

Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina on Tuesday accused PDP president Mehbooba Mufti of having "Talibani ideology" and said anyone who celebrated Pakistan's recent win over India in a T20 World Cup match would be jailed for "conspiring" against the country. Mehbooba Mufti, the former chief minister, on Monday had called on people to take Pakistan's win over India in a T20 World Cup match in the right spirit, amid reports of anger against Kashmiris for celebrating the neighbouring country's victory. Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in a Super 12 game on Sunday in their first win over their arch-rivals in a World Cup match in their 13th attempt. "Some leaders need security cover and are protected round-the-clock by our forces but their heart beats for Pakistan. Mehbooba is of Talibani ideology and she is answerable to the people for supporting an enemy nation which is pushing armed terrorists, conspiring against us and bleeding J&K. She has committed a grave sin," Raina ...

He said Rs 12,000 crore worth of investment has already come to the union territory and the government aims at a total of Rs 51,000 crore by the end of 2022 to provide five lakh jobs to the local youth. Addressing a public rally at Bhagwati Nagar here, Shah without naming the Congress, National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the three families are answerable to the people for their failure to develop Jammu and Kashmir over the past seven decades.
