Hindu, Adivasi population declining, JMM doing vote-bank politics: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday cautioned that the population of Hindus and Adivasis in Jharkhand is declining and accused the JMM-led coalition government of engaging in dangerous "vote bank politics" by supporting infiltrators at the expense of the state's identity, culture, and heritage. He asserted that it was time to "throw such forces out" to protect "mati, beti, roti" (land, daughter, bread). "The time is ripe for 'Parivartan' in Jharkhand to safeguard 'beti, mati, roti' and combat corruption. The JMM-led coalition is playing a dangerous game, jeopardising the identity, culture, and traditions of the people while patronising infiltrators," Modi said during the concluding programme of the BJP's Parivartan Yatra, which covered approximately 5,400 km across all 81 assembly segments. Modi criticised the coalition for being insensitive, citing the deaths of several aspirants during recruitment drives for excise constables. This visit marks Modi's second trip to Jharkhan

Infiltrators, illegal migrants vote bank of RJD, Cong, JMM in J'khand: Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday criticised the JMM-led government in Jharkhand for "vote bank" politics and vowed if the BJP comes to power, it would chase "each" illegal immigrant out of the state. He promised Rs 10 lakh free health cover to poor people aged 75 and above in the state. Shah claimed that the ruling JMM was "patronising infiltration" for "vote bank" and the tribal population in Santhal Pargana reduced to 28 per cent from 44 per cent earlier. "Infiltrators are vote banks of RJD, Congress and JMM. I promise to drive out illegal immigrants. The time has come to show the corrupt JMM-dispensation exit door...We want to change Jharkhand," Shah said at a rally after flagging off BJP's 'Parivartan Yatra' from Police Line Ground in Sahibganj. He urged people to choose a government which would chase out the illegal immigrants and not the one who patronises them. "The Hemant Soren government is indulged in 'ghuspathiya kalyan' (infiltrators welfare) instead of public .

JMM-led alliance patronising infiltrators in Jharkhand for vote bank: BJP

The Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly Amar Bauri said the central government had informed the high court that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants are living in the state, which the JMM-led alliance government has been denying for "vote bank". In an affidavit filed before a division bench of acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Arun Kumar Rai on Thursday, the Centre said Bangladeshis illegally entered Jharkhand through Sahebgunj and Pakur districts. There is also a "sizeable decrease" in the tribal population due to "high conversion of tribals and low birth rate" among them, it said. The senior BJP leader said that they have been raising the issue for a long time but the JMM-led alliance government has been denying the threat of infiltration. "The JMM-led government is engaged in patronizing Bangladeshi infiltrators in Jharkhand for vote bank and appeasement," he alleged while addressing reporters at state BJP headquarters here on Thursday. JMM-led govt using treasury to lure voters ahead of J'khand polls: AJSU

AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto on Sunday accused the Hemant Soren-led government of "using the treasury" to lure voters ahead of the assembly polls. He alleged that the government has cheated youths and women of the state by not fulfilling its promises. "The government is using its treasury in the name of various schemes only to lure voters ahead of the assembly polls in the state," Mahto alleged while addressing the 'Jharkhand Navnirman Sankalp Rally' at Ranchi's Prabhat Tara Ground. Thousands of youths from different districts of the state took part in the rally. "The government is launching schemes when the election is just one or two months away. Had it been honest towards the people of the state, it would have launched these initiatives years back," Mahto said. He alleged that the government cheated youths by not providing jobs and unemployment allowances. "The government had promised Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000 unemployment allowances to youth but did not provide these," he said.

After former J'khand CM Champai Soren, ex-JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom joins BJP

A day after former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren joined the BJP, ex-JMM legislator Lobin Hembrom on Saturday crossed over to the saffron camp. Hembrom was given membership of the BJP by the party's state chief Babulal Marandi in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. "The JMM has changed from what was it in Guruji's (JMM supremo Shibu Soren) time. Now, there is no respect for senior leaders in the JMM. So, I decided to join the BJP for development of Jharkhand and uplift of tribals," the former Borio legislator said at the saffron camp's state headquarters here. Hembrom was disqualified from the Jharkhand assembly under the anti-defection law with effect from July 26. Won't quit politics, open to floating new outfit, says Champai Soren

Former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren said he would not quit politics, asserting that an option to float a new political outfit was always open to him. Soren said he was firm on his plans after "facing humiliation at the hands of leaders of JMM", a party to which the veteran leader claimed that he devoted his entire life. "It is a new chapter of my life. I won't quit politics as I have received lots of love and support from my followers. The chapter has closed, I may form a new outfit," the senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader said shortly after he reached his ancestral village Jhilingora in Seraikela-Kharsawan district post midnight on Tuesday. The 67-year-old tribal leader has earned the nickname "Jharkhand's Tiger" for his contribution to the fight to create a separate state in the 1990s. Jharkhand was carved out of the southern part of Bihar in 2000. "No one from JMM contacted me. This is the land of Jharkhand...I have struggled since my student life. I participa

Champai says experienced humiliation as J'khand CM, hints at quitting JMM

JMM leader Champai Soren on Sunday said he experienced "bitter humiliation" as chief minister and three options are open to him, including floating a new outfit. His comment hinting that he may quit the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) came shortly after he reached Delhi amid speculation about a potential switch to the BJP as party supremo and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren accused the saffron party of "poaching" MLAs and "dividing society". BJP leader Babulal Marandi said in reaction to Champai Soren's post that this is "just the beginning of the downfall of JMM, which has deviated from its ideology". In a statement, Champai Soren alleged that all his government programmes in the first week of July, when he was the chief minister, were abruptly cancelled by the party leadership without his knowledge. He said he kept quiet as he was not greedy for power but his self-respect was hurt. "After so much humiliation, I was forced to look for an alternative path," Champai Soren said i
