Kia Motors India (KMI) on Tuesday said it has appointed Tae-Jin Park as Executive Director and Chief Sales Officer with immediate effect. Park, who replaces Yong S Kim, will be responsible for driving Kia Motors' sales, marketing, service and network development in the Indian market, the company said in a statement. Kim is moving back to Kia Motors Corporation headquarters in Seoul. He had played an instrumental role in establishing Kia in India, setting up its sales network and contributed to positioning the brand amongst the top five automobile manufacturers in just four months of operations, it added. Commenting on the appointment, Kia Motors India Managing Director & CEO Kookhyun Shim said Park comes with immense knowledge of global markets and expertise in penetrating a new market. Kia Motors on Friday said it has increased price of its SUV Seltos by up to Rs 35,000 across variants from January 1. The price hike is in the range of Rs 25,000-35,000 across various variants of Seltos, Kia Motors India said in a statement. The South Korean automaker had launched its maiden vehicle, Seltos in India last August with price starting from Rs 9.69 lakh. It is now available at a price range of Rs 9.89-16.29 lakh. Other companies such as Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Toyota and Renault which had last month said they would increase prices of their vehicles from January, are yet to announce it.
This year demand being low in the domestic market, the company increased its export volumes by asking distributor partners in various markets to take volume from India, he added.
