PM forms two Cabinet panels to spur investment and employment

In a bid to spur investment and create new employment opportunities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday set up two Cabinet committees to deal with the two crucial issues. Government sources said both the panels, respectively on Investment and Growth and on Employment and Skill Development, will be headed by the prime minister. The Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth will have Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sithataman, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Railways and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal as its members. Gopal Rai inspects LNJP, told contractual employees not getting salaries for 3 months

Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai Tuesday inspected LNJP Hospital and was told that contractual employees there have not received salaries for three months, according to an official statement. Rai directed officers to clear the salaries within three days and warned them of strict action if they fail to comply. The direction came a day after the Arvind Kejriwal government decided that cabinet ministers would be on the ground from June 3 to know the problems of people and find viable solutions for them. "During inspection, minister found that contractual employees were getting salaries for three months. In view of this, he directed officers concerned to clear the file pertaining to their salaries within three days or face action," an official was quoted as saying in the statement. He also directed the hospital authorities to ensure that all the contractual employees get salaries as per minimum wages notified by the government.

The survey further revealed that northern zone will provide most opportunities for job seekers, followed by other regions. "The overall industry sentiments showcase a positive outlook of the market. Walmart is extending its debt-free college benefits to high schoolers as a way to attract and retain workers in a tight labour market. The nation's largest private employer said Tuesday it will offer free college SAT and ACT prep for its workers in high school, while offering two to three free general education college classes through an educational startup.
