A sub-inspector (SI) and an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) were arrested for taking bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant in Kota, today, an official said. The accused were identified as Sub-inspector Suresh Kumar Sharma, a resident of Kherthal area in Alwar district, and assistant Sub-inspector Rafiquddin, a resident of Keshavpura area in Kota. Both were posted in R K Puram police station. The two police officials had demanded Rs 15,000 for cooperating in a case lodged by one Amralal Gujar, a resident of Borawas area in Kota, additional superintendent of police (ASP), ACB, Baran, Rajendra Singh Gogawat said. When Gujar expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount, the accused asked for Rs 8,000. The complainant reported the matter to ACB, Baran, on Sunday. Two balloons with words 'Pakistan and I Love' written on them were recovered today in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district, police said. The villagers informed the police about the balloons, SHO Raisighnagar police station Majid Khan said. Police and CID officials are investigating the matter, he added. Yesterday, a balloon with Pakistani flag tied with it was found in 19 BB village in the Padampur police station area of Sriganganagar district, which shares the international border with Pakistan. The agency filed the charge sheet before Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora who posted the matter for consideration on August 8. The Delhi-based journalist was arrested by the CBI on May 3 for allegedly indulging in dubious financial transactions, getting an airport access pass made by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) by furnishing false information, alleged extortion and manipulation of an Income Tax Department case against a Mumbai-based businessman. A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped by two youths in a moving car here, police said today. The accused also posted an objectionable photo of the victim on social media, they added. Following a complaint lodged by the girl yesterday, a case was registered against accused Balram Jat and Aaduram Jat under various sections of IPC, IT Act, SC/ST Act and POCSO Act, SHO Chhatargarh police station Vikas Bishnoi said. As per the FIR, on July 29, the accused approached the girl and pulled her into their jeep. After raping her, they threw the victim on the roadside from the moving car. Family members lodged a complaint with the police after the girl reached home and shared her ordeal with them. Medical examination of the victim girl was done and teams have been sent to find and arrest the accused, police said.
Police claimed to have rescued 14 oxen from a truck while they were being illegally transported in Rajasthan's Bundi district today, officials said. Police have lodged a case under sections of Cow Protection Act against unidentified persons, however, they managed to flee the spot, Station House Officer Laxman Singh said. Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a truck carrying 14 oxen, aged between four and five, on NH-52 in Hindoli town here, he said. BJP MP Heena Gavit today accused the Maharashtra police of not acting against the people accused of attacking her yesterday, saying she could have been killed but the main culprit was let off by the police within hours. Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, she said she was returning from a meeting when her car came under attack and the accused smashed its glasses and tried to topple it. Media reports had said a group of Maratha protestors, who were agitating for a quota for the community, were behind the incident. Two men allegedly raped a 16-year- old girl after taking her out on the pretext of celebrating the Friendship Day here, a police official said today. The accused, aged 18 and 22 years, were known to the victim, said Inspector V M Pawar of the Dombivili police station, adding both were arrested. The duo approached the girl last evening and asked her out to celebrate the Friendship Day. Since the teenager was known to them, she went out, he said. They took the girl on a two-wheeler to an abandoned room near a fish hatchery in Dombivili and allegedly raped her, Pawar said. The accused warned her of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident and later dropped her near her home, he said. Mathura BJP MLA Pooran Prakash was reportedly attacked by unidentified persons who threw stones at his car near Mahaban town here, police said today. The incident took place last evening, they said. The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of two priests--Jaise K. Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested with heroin worth crores in Jammu and Kashmir today, police said. Acting on a tip off, police intercepted the two men from Bathindi area here and recovered a large quantity of heroin worth crores of rupees, a police officer told PTI. Both of them have been arrested and a case has been registered, he said. Reports have said at least 50-kg of heroin were recovered. However, the officer said the consignment was being weighed.
