Sulur Magistrate C Vediyappan gave the direction to Karthik and also his party colleague Thangaraj when the two appeared before him following grant of anticipatory bail by the additional district sessions court. A Delhi court today sent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's kin, arrested in connection with Public Works Department scam, to two-day police custody. Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Khanagwal allowed the police to interrogate Kejriwal's nephew Vinay Bansal in its custody. Vinay, who is the son of Kejriwal's late brother-in-law Surender Bansal, was arrested on May 10 by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB). The court had then rejected the application of the ACB for a three-day police remand of Bansal, saying he was not medically fit. Three FIRs, including one against a company run by Surender Bansal, were registered by the ACB in this case on May 9 last year. Three companies, including Renu Constructions (owned by the Bansals, Kamal Singh and Pawan Kumar), were named in the FIRs. A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men in a hotel in Vrindavan and subsequently abandoned in a Delhi-bound train, police said today. She was rescued by the Delhi police. The incident occurred on May 11, the police said, adding that the hotel fell under the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station. "An FIR under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and sections 3 and 5 of the POCSO Act has been filed against the accused," Deputy Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar said. Two of the accused were identified as Sanjay of Sakraya village and Laxman, while efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the third accused, the police said. No arrest was made so far, Kumar said, adding that the girl was sent for a medical examination today. The Delhi Police on Monday filed a charge sheet in a Delhi court in connection with the death of Sunanda Pushkar.The charge sheet has named Sunanda's husband and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor as accused, under sections 306 (Abetment of suicide) and 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).The next date of hearing in the case is May 24.Sunanda was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a suite of a five-star hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014.On February 23, Tharoor said he was looking for a conclusion in his wife's death case.Incidentally, on that day, Tharoor's statement came hours after the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Delhi Police on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy's appeal challenging the Delhi High Court order dismissing his plea for a Special Investigation Team (SIT)-led probe into the case.

With the death of a teenage boy, the death toll in last month's gas cylinder blast in the Giaspur locality here rose to 14, police said today. 14-year-old Shivam succumbed to the burn injuries in the local CMC hospital here late last night, they said. Shivam's father Amarnath, a labourer, who was also severely burnt in the cylinder blast incident on April 26, had breathed his last in the hospital on May 1. The cooking gas cylinder had exploded at the residence of Ashok Kumar Yadav (58) in Samrat Colony of Giaspura, injuring 35 people. Yadav, his wife Sunita (40) and son Raj (13) succumbed to injuries at the CMC hospital later. Residents of houses neighbouring Yadav's were among the dead.
A 70-year-old man today caused a flutter when he allegedly set ablaze some files in a village office in the district, as he was upset over the manner in which the survey of his land was done by revenue officials, police said. Ravi was arrested soon after he committed the alleged crime at Amballoor village office, they said. According to police, he reached the office at around 9.40 AM andpoured petrol on the files placed on a desk and set them afire even as employees present there raised an alarm. Two undertrials, both brothers, have gone missing from Ludhiana Central Jail since last evening, police said. They have been identified as Jasbir Singh and Harvinder Singh of Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Surinder Lamba said today. The two were facing trial in separate criminal cases of theft and under the NDPS Act. The officer said that during a routine head-count in the jail at 8 pm on Sunday evening, the officials found the two prisoners missing. The jail authorities immediately informed the police. A court here today sentenced a government stamp vendor to three years imprisonment for keeping and selling counterfeit stamps. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ankur Sharma also imposed a fine of Rs 6,000 on Asharam Gupta. Gupta, a government stamp vendor, was arrested on charges of keeping and selling counterfeit stamps. Fake stamps were seized from his possession and a case was lodged against him by an official under IPC sections pertaining to possession of counterfeit government stamps in February 1988.

Additional Sessions Judge Jasbir Singh Kundu granted time to the CBI after taking note of a fresh plea by the agency stating that the probe was underway and it needed one-and-a-half months to complete it.
