Man gets 3 yrs imprisonment for selling fake govt stamps

A court here today sentenced a government stamp vendor to three years imprisonment for keeping and selling counterfeit stamps.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ankur Sharma also imposed a fine of Rs 6,000 on Asharam Gupta.

Gupta, a government stamp vendor, was arrested on charges of keeping and selling counterfeit stamps.

Fake stamps were seized from his possession and a case was lodged against him by an official under IPC sections pertaining to possession of counterfeit government stamps in February 1988.
