A 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man when she was alone in her house at Bhopura village here, police said today. According to Bhopa police station SHO Vijay Singh, the accused entered the woman's house when her husband was away and allegedly raped her yesterday. Police have registered a case and the woman has been sent for medical examination.

Investment advisers and research analysts are set to attract huge penalties of up to Rs 1 crore for violation of Sebi norms, according to a proposal in the Budget 2018-19. Failure to comply with regulations by individuals with respect to alternative investment funds (AIFs), infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) and real estate investment trusts (REITs) would also attract similar quantum of penalties. The Finance Bill 2018 has proposed amendments to the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act and Depositories Act. As per changes proposed to the Sebi Act, an investment adviser or a research analyst fails to comply with relevant regulations, then they would be liable for fine of not less than Rs 1 lakh. The quantum can extend to Rs 1 lakh for each day during which such failure continues subject to a maximum of Rs 1 crore. Palghar district rural police have requested the Special Inspector General, Konkan Range to transfer the investigation into the case of alleged suicide of Amit Jha, out of the district. Palghar District Rural Superintendent of Police Manjunath Singe, in a statement issued today, said he has requested to the SIG Konkan Range to transfer the probe out of the district as it was necessary to give police a fair chance for investigation. A man has been booked for video-shooting on a road in Bhayandar in the district allegedly without due permission from Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, police said today. The civic body also slapped a fine of Rs 2,50,000 against him for carrying out the shoot without permission, which the accused has paid, municipal officials said. "The accused, owner of a firm named Excel 9 Location, was first found shooting on a road in Bhayandar on January 21. That time, he was let off by the civic staff, who asked him to take permission prior to his next shoot. However, two days later, he was again found shooting without due permission," a civic official said. Thereafter, he was summoned to the office of the Municipal Commissioner, where he was questioned about his lapses and fined Rs 2,50,000. He was also asked to pay Rs 25,000 as permission fee. The civic body later also lodged a complaint with the police and the accused was booked under IPC section 447 (criminal trespass) by .
A 16-year-old boy allegedly mowed down a 25-year-old cook in northwest Delhi's Prashant Vihar while he was driving his father's car, police said. The victim was identified as Manjeet alias Johnny. The accident took place on Tuesday and the victim succumbed to his injuries yesterday. Police said that the juvenile was a student of Class XII at a private school and he had taken out his father's Hyundai Santro for a drive. Manjeet was crossing the road near sector 11 traffic signal when he was hit by the juvenile who was suspected of driving the vehicle at a high speed, police said. The victim was rushed to BSA Hospital and later he was taken to Maharishi Valmiki Hospital when his condition deteriorated. He died yesterday morning at the hospital. The deceased worked as a cook at a local eatery. The juvenile was apprehended and his father was also booked under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act for allowing a minor to drive a vehicle.

The brother of an alleged gangrape victim at Kunduli who committed suicide today filed a suit against 11 state government officials in a court here, alleging negligence on their part.
