Four of a family including a woman and her two children were crushed to death by a vehicle here Thursday, the police said. The deceased were on a motorcycle when they were hit near Mirpur village under Shahpur Police Station in the district, Circle Officer Harish Bhadoria said. The victims are yet to be identified and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, he added. The police is searching for the driver of the vehicle who fled the spot, Bhadoria said.
A three-year old boy has slipped into coma after being allegedly subjected to torture by his mother near here for being 'disobedient', police said Thursday. The toddler, who suffered severe brain injury, underwent a surgery at a private hospital in Aluva near here where his condition was stated to be critical, they said. The woman, who hails from Jharkhand, has been arrested under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act (punishment for cruelty to child). The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested three persons after a businessman travelling from Delhi to Mumbai was allegedly robbed of Rs 1.70 crore cash on a moving train here, officials said Thursday. Two of the arrested accused, identified as Ganpat Singh and Uttam Kumar, are the gang members who were involved in executing the robbery while the third one is the father of another gang member and had prevented police from conducting check at his house, where the looted cash was hidden, they said. Taar Singh and Uttam Kumar looted a bag from the businessman, Gautam Kumar, in a running train near the Kota railway station on April 14. The police in Maharashtra's Osmanabad district registered cases against four persons Thursday for allegedly uploading videos from polling centres on social media. Polling was held in Osmanabad in central Maharashtra Thursday along with nine other Lok Sabha seats in the state. Poll officials suspected that some persons were uploading videos on social media from inside polling centres. A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking disqualification of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) management, alleging that it has not been complying with the apex court's directions. The application filed by BCA's rival, Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB), on whose petition large scale reforms have been ordered and monitored by the apex court in the BCCI, submitted that BCA secretary Rabi Shankar Prasad Singh has been holding the office for over 10 years in violation of the apex court's 2018 order. The top court had on August 9, 2018 held that the office bearers in state associations and the BCCI can only hold office for six consecutive years. A Dehradun-bound passenger has been apprehended at the Delhi airport for allegedly carrying six live bullet rounds in his baggage, an official said Thursday. A Central Industrial Security Force officer, deputed at terminal-1D of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to scan baggages, detected bullet-like objects while checking the bag of passenger R K Baid on Wednesday, he said. "Six live bullet rounds of 7.65 mm calibre gun were recovered from the passenger who was supposed to take a flight to Dehradun," the official said. The traveller was not allowed to board the flight and was handed over to the Delhi Police as he could not produce any document for the ammunition, he added. Carrying arms and ammunition inside an airport terminal area or an aircraft is banned under the aviation laws.

Three men were Thursday arrested for allegedly possessing mephedrone drug, also known as MD or meow-meow, worth over Rs 61 lakh in suburban Khar, a senior police official said. Police had received a tip-off that three persons were coming to Khar area to sell drugs. Swinging into action, a team of police led by inspector Daya Nayak laid a trap near the National College bus stop in suburban Khar and nabbed the trio travelling in an auto, the official said. They were found possessing 1.526 kg of MD drugs, worth Rs 61.04 lakh, the official added. The accused trio, identified as Sanjay Pandey (42), Sachin Mudiyar(42) and Roshan Kumar Pandey (32), was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During their interrogation, it came to light that Sanjay Pandey was out on bail in a similar case registered against him in Delhi in 2012, police said. Further investigation is underway.
A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with a 2012 case in Dwarka in which he allegedly robbed a taxi driver and fled the scene in the same vehicle in Dwarka, police said Thursday. The accused, Mohit Kapoor, is a resident of Faridabad. He was absconding in the robbery case registered at Dwarka South police station, they said. In February 2012, Kapoor, along with his associate, robbed the taxi driver of his belongings, including his mobile phone and purse containing driving licence and Rs 1,500 in cash and later fled in the same vehicle, G Ram Gopal Naik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) said. Kapoor was arrested on April 16 after police were tipped-off that he would be coming near the Dwarka Court to meet someone following which a trap was laid, he said. He was also involved in a case of attempt to murder and robbery, in which the accused along with his accomplices robbed a jeweller after firing at him in Palam village, police said.

Political activist Tehseen Poonawalla Thursday urged the Election Commission to debar BJP's Bhopal candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur from contesting the Lok Sabha polls as she was facing terror charges.
