The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued a show cause notice to Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta and asked him to take action against police officers who reportedly refused to register a complaint of a rape survivor. Citing a media report, NCW member Soso Shaiza said the commission is seriously concerned about the "reported police apathy in the matter and negligence shown by the police despite the provision of zero FIR in the law". The media report said the SHO bickered with the victim over jurisdiction of where the complaint must be registered. Aman allegedly killed Huma on April 10 at the Amba Vihar Colony area here as she was opposed to her daughter's relationship with him, Superintendent of Police Satpal Ankit said. While quashing the case, a division bench of justices Ranjit More and Bharati Dangre observed that accused journalist Poonam Agarwal had not done anything that affected the national interest. The body of a woman was found hanging from a tree at Harsauli village in the district, police said Thursday. The deceased was identified as Rakhi, SHO of the Budhana police station Yashpal Singh said.
