ED attaches assets worth over Rs. 3 crore in ponzi scheme fraud case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs. 3.06 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with multi-level marketing and ponzi scheme fraud case.The assets were acquired by M/s Gold Sukh Trade India Ltd. and its Directors Narendra Singh, Mahendra Kumar Nirwan, Manvendra Pratap Singh Chauhan, Pramod alias Bablu Sharma and others.An First Information Report (FIR) was registered by the Vidhyakpuri Police Station, Jaipur against the company and its directors, shareholders and team leaders for grabbing public deposits during 2008-09 to 2010-11.The State police have filed charge sheet against the accused persons under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prize Chit and Money Circulation Scheme (Banning) Act, 1978 for duping about 1,18,288 investors amounting to Rs. 215 crore approximately.An investigation conducted by the ED has revealed that during 2008-09 to 2011-12, the company and its directors, their relatives, ...

Delhi Police arrests Kejriwal's attacker, calls him 'unstable'

The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested the man who allegedly attacked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with chilli powder.The police further informed that 40-year-old Anil Kumar Sharma, the attacker was found to be "unstable and incoherent"."The accused Anil Sharma has been arrested. A case has been taken up for investigation. Since the accused has threatened Chief Minster, a joint interrogation was conducted by Intelligence Bureau, special cell and local police. He was found to be unstable and incoherent," the Delhi Police said.The police said that they have registered a case in the matter while adding that no formal complaint has been received from the Chief Minister Secretariat yet."After taking suo-motu cognisance, a case has been registered. No formal complaint has been received from the Chief Minister Secretariat. A cognisable offence at prima facie made out. Therefore, a case has been registered under Sections 186, 353, 332 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)," the Delhi Police .

Muzaffarpur shelter home case: CBI arrests quack

The CBI late on Tuesday arrested a quack from a remote part of the district in connection with the shelter home sex scandal. Ashwani, who practised quackery in the district's Kurhani block, was arrested and brought to the CBI camp office in the town by the investigating agency following information that he allegedly used to visit the shelter home to administer injections laced with sedatives to the inmates, official sources said. Two close aides of Brajesh Thakur, the prime accused in the shelter home sex scandal case, including his associate Shaista Parveen alias Madhu were arrested by the CBI on Tuesday, officials said. The CBI interrogated Madhu, who had been traceless for months and for whom the investigating agency was on a lookout as she allegedly used to manage many NGOs and other enterprises run by the alleged kingpin. Man charged with sex crimes involving 300 boys in Norway: prosecutor

Norwegian authorities have charged a man in his twenties, reportedly a football referee, with sexual offences involving some 300 teenage boys -- the biggest such case in the country's history, prosecutors said Tuesday. "The case is a serious one, and it is the biggest case of sexual abuse in Norway to date," state prosecutor Guro Hansson Bull said in a statement. The charges include rape, according to Norwegian media reports. The man allegedly targeted boys on the internet, where he adopted female personas in chat forums and convinced the victims to engage in sexual acts, which he filmed, with promises of erotic photos in return. According to the prosecutor's office, about 300 boys aged 13 to 16 were targeted since 2011, in Norway and other Nordic countries. The man, identified in the media as a football referee, "admits the facts," his lawyer Gunhild Laerum told broadcaster NRK, but has yet to respond to each individual charge. The trial will be held in 2019.

Boy falls to death in septic tank while playing

A five-year-old boy died after falling into a partially open septic tank while playing in Uttam Nagar of Dwarka district, police said Tuesday. The incident took place on Sunday, they said. The victim was playing with children of his age group when he fell in the septic tank which was partially open, a senior police officer said. The boy was taken out from the tank and rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, he said. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased's father, a case was registered, he added. Police said the septic tank belonged to one Pritam Singh of Nawada village. He built this septic tank on public land in about 15 years ago, the officer said. The body was sent for post-mortem, police said, adding further investigation is underway. The father of the deceased, a resident of Nawada village, is a casual labourer and has been living in a rented accommodation with his family.

Muzaffarpur shelter home: CBI arrests doctor for injecting girls with drugs

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested Ashwani Kumar for allegedly injecting minor girls with drugs. His arrest comes close on the heels of the surrender of Saista Praveen alias Madhu, a close aide of Brajesh Thakur, the key accused in Muzaffarpur shelter home case.Madhu had surrendered in Muzaffarpur shortly after the arrest of former Bihar Minister Manju Verma, who surrendered in Begusarai Court in connection with an Arms Act case. CBI sources said that Madhu was the one who was managing the affairs of the NGO-managed shelter home in which over 40 girls were allegedly sexually harassed.As per the CBI sources, Madhu is the king-pin in shelter home case. She was involved in sending girls to clients for sexual activities. Sources further revealed that she was very close to Brajesh Thakur and has all the records of clients. Man flees to India after raping minor, Nepal Police arrests him from Gurgaon

A 27-year-old Nepali citizen who had fled to India after allegedly raping a minor a week ago has been arrested from Gurgaon near India's capital New Delhi, police said Tuesday. Rajan Bika, a resident of Bharatpur Municipality in central Nepal's Chitawan district, allegedly took a 12-year-old girl to an isolated place in the evening of November 10 and raped her, they said, adding a case was filed by the victim the next day. Following which, police managed to track Bika's mobile location in Bardaghat and Butwal, and deployed teams to arrest him. According to police, the accused, along with his wife, managed to escape to India via Sunauli border and reached New Delhi. A team, under Inspector Ganesh Poudel, was also sent to India to arrest the accused. RJD MLA and former minister Ilyas Hussain disqualified from Bihar Assembly

MLA Mohd Ilyas Hussain of the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar was disqualified on Tuesday with effect from the date on which he was convicted in a corruption case by a CBI court in Ranchi two months ago. According to a notification issued by the Vidhan Sabha, Hussain, who represented Dehri assembly segment in Rohtas district, has been disqualified with effect from September 27, when he was convicted and awarded five years in prison in connection with the bitumen scam of the early 1990s involving defalcation of Rs 18.75 lakh when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the chief minister of the undivided Bihar. Hussain was the minister for road construction during the period. With his disqualification, the number of RJD MLAs in the 243-strong assembly has been reduced to 80. The RJD had won 80 seats in the 2015 assembly polls, emerging as the single largest party, and had improved its tally earlier this year when it wrested Jokihat from the JD(U).

Victim's brother hails court verdict in 1984 riots case

"There were times when I felt like killing myself in the past 34 years but the court's verdict today has restored my faith in judiciary," said the brother of one of the deceased in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. A Delhi court Tuesday awarded death penalty to convict Yashpal Singh for killing Hardev Singh and Avtar Singh in the Mahipalpur area of South Delhi during the riots, the first capital punishment in the case. Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Pandey also awarded life term to co-convict Naresh Sherawat in the case. The case was lodged by the SIT formed in 2015 on an order by the Ministry of Home Affairs following a complaint filed by Santokh Singh, the brother of Hardev Singh. Santokh Singh called the verdict a "gift". "The verdict is a gift by the judiciary to our family that has gone through a lot in all these years. Three robbers arrested for killing youth in Ghaziabad

Three robbers were arrested Tuesday for allegedly killing a youth in Kavi Nagar here, the police said. Sihani Gate police have also recovered weapons from possession of the arrested accused who had killed the youth, going with his sister on a bike on Bhai Dooj on November 9 near Diamond flyover in Kavi Nagar, they said. City Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said that police intercepted a bike in the morning during routine checking. Upon frisking the three men on the bike, two country-made pistols, live cartridges, and six mobile phones were recovered from their possession, he said. The accused were identified as Nadeem, Sameer and Azad. Delhi Police arrests Hizb operative for role in killing J-K cop

Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a Hizb-ul Mujahideen operative Ansar ul Haq on Tuesday for his role in the death of Sub-Inspector Imtiaz Ahmad Mir, whose body was found in Pulwama on October 28.Addressing the media here, Pramod Khushwaha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) said, "The arrested person is from Pulwama. Haq had involved his girlfriend in Mir's murder. His girlfriend knew the police officer."Ansar ul Haq was arrested from Terminal 3 of the Delhi airport.Giving further details about Haq, Khushwaha added, "He is well educated and holds a Masters degree in literature. Former district president of Aam Aadmi Party Suresh Sharma suffered gun shot wounds when two unidentified bike borne men fired at him at Chehertha locality here on Tuesday evening, police said. The bullets hit Sharma's legs and thighs, they said, adding the former RTI activist was taken to a private hospital where his condition was said to be stable. At the time of attack, Sharma was at his furniture shop, officials said. They said the motive behind the attack was yet to be ascertained and investigation was underway. Sharma is a supporter of AAP's rebel group led by MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira. Both factions of AAP condemned the attack.
