Judge Vinod Padalkar, presiding over the special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court, framed charges against all the seven accused under sections of the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A German court has ordered the release of former Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, more than four months after he was arrested in an investigation into the manipulation of diesel emissions controls. The Munich state court said Tuesday it lifted an arrest warrant against Stadler, ruling that it was "justifiable" on condition that he refrain from contact with people relevant to the investigation. He will have to post an unspecified bail payment. Prosecutors ordered Stadler's arrest in mid-June over fears he might try to evade justice. A week earlier, authorities searched his private residence on suspicion of fraud and indirect improprieties with documents. Stadler was suspended at his own request after his arrest. The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a man from Kunzer area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday for allegedly raping his daughter.A police spokesperson, in an official statement on, said that they received a written complaint from the victim's brother stating that his sister had allegedly been raped by his father.Subsequently, a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code was registered and the man was arrested on October 29.The police further said that during the course of the investigation, statements of the victim and other witnesses under relevant provisions of the law were recorded.Further probe in the matter is underway.

As Opposition parties demanded the sacking Charanjit Singh Channi for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a woman officer, the Punjab minister said Tuesday he was being targeted as he raised issues concerning the Dalits in the state. Channi, who had been accused by the woman official some weeks back, was speaking to the media for the first time after he returned from abroad. The Supreme Court Tuesday reserved its order on contempt proceedings initiated against Delhi BJP chief and MP Manoj Tiwari for allegedly breaking the seal of an illegal premises that was sealed by the civic agency here. A bench comprising Justices Madan B Lokur, S Abdul Nazeer and Deepak Gupta concluded the arguments on behalf of Tiwari and the lawyer appearing for the monitoring committee for sealing. Senior advocate Vikas Singh appearing for Tiwari claimed in the court that the monitoring committee wanted "to terrorize the people of Delhi" by carrying out sealing drive in unauthorised colonies which are otherwise protected under the law. However, the counsel appearing for the monitoring committee countered the claims of Singh saying the panel doesnt need "publicity" and its members were only performing their job as entrusted to them by the apex court.

CBI produced before a Delhi court Tuesday its Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Devender Kumar and middleman Manoj Prasad, arrested in connection with bribery allegations involving the agency's Special Director Rakesh Asthana. Kumar had moved a bail application before a court here on Monday. In his bail application, moved by advocate Rahul Tyagi, Kumar termed his custody "illegal" and urged the court to set him free. Two alleged middlemen -- Manoj Prasad and Somesh Prasad -- have also been named as accused in the case. The FIR in the current case was lodged on the basis of a written complaint from Sana on October 15, wherein it was alleged that Kumar, being the IO in the case against meat exporter Moin Qureshi, was repeatedly calling the complainant to the CBI office to harass him and compel him to pay a bribe of Rs 5 crore for getting a clean chit in the case. The complaint had also said that a part of the bribe was paid by Sana.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested absconding accused Shukruddin Shek from Malda in the Chikkodi Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) case under Sections 489B, 489C, 120B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case pertains to the seizure of FICN of face value Rs. 82,000 and the subsequent arrest of three accused persons namely Dalim Mia, Ashok Kumbar and Rajendra Patil at Chikkodi area in Karnataka in a joint operation carried out by the NIA and local police on March 12.The investigation has revealed that accused Dalim Mia took the above fake currency at Farakka Railway Station from accused Shukruddin Shek carried it to Bengaluru, He then handed over the currency to Kumbar, who was subsequently nabbed with the currency.
