Presidential poll fight against misuse of central agencies: Yashwant Sinha

Opposition's candidate Yashwant Sinha on Monday said the July 18 presidential poll is a fight against the central agencies that are being misused by the Union government. Sinha said if he becomes the president, the misuse of central agencies will be stopped. He also alleged that the BJP and the government led by it at the Centre are "deliberately" creating an atmosphere of hate in the country. Sinha attacked the Centre over its economic policies, declining growth and the fall in rupee exchange rate. However, he said India will not see a situation like Sri Lanka. Sinha said the elections are being held in unusual circumstances. "All know what is the condition of the country. An atmosphere of hate is being created and pushed deliberately by the BJP and the Government of India," he told reporters. Opposition slams Modi for unveiling emblem atop new Parliament building

Opposition parties on Monday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for unveiling the national emblem cast atop the new Parliament building, accusing him of "subverting" the principle constitutional separation of powers. The Constitution separates powers of parliament, government & judiciary. As head of the government, the Prime Minister should not have unveiled the national emblem atop the new parliament building, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi said. The Speaker of Lok Sabha represents Lok Sabha which isn't subordinate to the government. Opposition's presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha on Monday filed his nomination papers for the July 18 election. Sinha handed over four sets of nomination papers to Rajya Sabha Secretary General P C Mody, who is the returning officer for the presidential election. Top opposition leaders including NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, DMK's A Raja and NC leader Farooq Abdullah were present when Sinha submitted his nomination papers. Sinha was named as the common opposition candidate for the presidential election on June 21. NDA nominee Droupadi Murmu has already filed her nomination papers last week.
