Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Saturday asserted that the state will get its share of Yamuna water as per the allocations specified in the 1994 agreement with Haryana. Haryana and Rajasthan recently signed an agreement to jointly prepare a detailed project report for the transfer of Rajasthan's share of Yamuna water from Hathnikund in Haryana through underground pipelines and its subsequent utilisation in areas such as Jhunjhunu and Churu. Addressing public gatherings in Khetri and Kalyanpura in Neem Ka Thana district as a part of the 'Dhanyavad Yatra' for the water sharing agreement, Sharma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that Rajasthan would get its complete share of water and the Memorandum of Understanding was signed accordingly. "This MoU would fulfil the demand of the people of Rajasthan who have waited for the last 30 years. As part of the agreement, the state will get 1,917 cusecs of water from the Yamuna river," he said. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra resumed from Rajasthan's Dholpur district on Saturday afternoon. Gandhi, along with former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan AICC in-charge Sukhjinder Randhawa and other leaders started the yatra in the presence of a large number of party workers. Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Sunday accused the BJP government in Rajasthan of creating confusion over the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project and cheating the people of the state while protecting the interests of Madhya Pradesh. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) will commission the country's newest oil refinery at Barmer in Rajasthan by January next year that will help meet rising fuel demand in the north India, a senior company executive said. "The 9 million tonnes a year refinery is 76 per cent mechanically complete and will be completed by year end or so. First product from the refinery will flow in December or January next year," HPCL director for refineries S Bharathan told reporters on the sidelines of India Energy Week here. The project is part of India's target of having an installed capacity to turn 450 million tonnes of crude oil into fuels such as petrol and diesel to meet the energy needs of the world's fastest growing major economy.
