Delhi govt to offer free power, civic aid to Ramleela, Durga pandals

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday announced a series of measures to support Ramleela and Durga pandal committees ahead of the festive season. The measures include free electricity, single-window no-objectionable certificates (NOC) and enhanced civic facilities. After meeting representatives of Ramleela committees, Gupta said the Delhi government will provide 1,200 units of free electricity, while meters will be installed on just 25 per cent security deposit. "This is a welcoming and happy news for all the Ramleela and Durga pandal committees," she said. She further said that public amenities such as toilets, security arrangements, healthcare services, ambulances and fire brigades will be ensured at the venues. Delhi's wait for its new chief minister after the assembly polls will end on Wednesday, when the BJP Legislature Party is slated to choose the Leader of the House, even as preparations for the February 20 oath-taking ceremony are in full swing at the historic Ramlila Ground here. Police tighten security ahead of INDIA bloc rally against Kejriwal's arrest

Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in strength in central Delhi ahead of a rally by INDIA bloc leaders at the Ramlila Maidan here on Sunday, officials said. The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of the opposition INDIA bloc's 'Loktantra Bachao Rally' on Sunday and said that movement of vehicles in the city would be regulated for six hours on that day. Unions to hold rally in Delhi on Aug 10 to restore Old Pension Scheme

Employees of central and state government departments will gather at Ramlila Maidan here on August 10 to demand restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, a group of railway union leaders said on Tuesday. The 'Pension Rights Maharally' will be organised under the banner of the Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme (JFROPS)/National Joint Council of Action (NJCA), they said. Thousands of farmers to descend at Ramlila Maidan for 'Kisan Mahapanchayat'

Thousands of farmers will gather at Ramlila Maidan here on Monday for the 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' to press for a legal guarantee on the minimum support price amid heightened security. The Delhi Police has deployed over 2,000 security personnel at the venue. Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure that the event goes smoothly, the police had said on Sunday. Ramlila celebrations: Traffic movement to be affected in parts of Delhi

The Delhi traffic police on Monday said vehicular movement may be affected in several areas across the national capital in the evening hours for the next 10 days in the wake of the Navratra and Ramlila celebrations. According to an advisory issued by the traffic police, Ramlila will be celebrated across Delhi from Monday to October 5 between 6 pm and 11 pm. There are 46 main venues where Ramlilas will be organized, which include Red Fort, Ramlila Maidan JLN Marg, Dakshinpuri, Sarojini Nagar, RK Puram Sector 5, Dwarka, Punjabi Bagh, Hari Nagar, Sultanpuri, Pitampura, Model Town, and Gandhi Nagar, the advisory said. Security arrangements in place for Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan: Police

Adequate security arrangements have been made in and around the Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi in view of the Congress' protest on Sunday, officials said. The Delhi Police has also issued a traffic advisory on its official Twitter handle, alerting the commuters about road closures on Sunday.
