The Army is totally geared up to face any situation in the Dokalam sector and any mischief will be dealt with "properly", General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command Lt. Gen. He was asked about China reportedly stationing its troops in Dokalam, where the two countries were locked in a standoff for over two months earlier this year after the Chinese army tried to build a road in the area claimed by Indian-ally Bhutan. India feared the road, if completed, would allow China to cut off its access to its northeastern states. Krishna said the Indian Army is in high spirits and ready to take on any mischief. The excitement and emotion over the victory of Indian armed forces against Pakistan and birth of Bangladesh on this day in 1971 should pass on to the next generation, the GOC-in-C of Eastern Command Abhay Krishna said today. "It (Hindu) was a larger identity of way of living of the people of this country for years together," he added. "What we have inherited from our ancient times is Bharatiyata. Jisko kucch log Hindutva bhi kehte hai, Indianness kehte hai, isme kisiko aapathi nahi hona chahiye. (What we have inherited from ancient times, some people call it as Hindutva or Indianness. There should not be any objection to it)," Naidu said. He said that the Indian civilization had managed to survive several ...

HC notice to union minister & Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel

The Allahabad High Court today issued a notice to union minister Anupriya Patel in connection with dispute over premiership of her party Apna Dal and fixed January 15 as the next date of hearing. A bench of Justices D K Upadhyay and Rajesh Singh Chauhan passed the order on a writ petition filed by Anupriya's mother, Krishna Patel who claimed to be the president of the party. In the petition, Krishna has challenged an order of the Election Commission, which had asked Anupriya and Krishna to resolve their dispute. In the petition, Krishna has pleaded that since the Apna Dal was not a recognised political outfit, the EC had no right to intervene in its affairs. After considering the plea, the Lucknow bench of the high court issued notice to Anupriya, who is Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and fixed January 15 as the next date of hearing.
