Climate change talks see pushes for global renewable energy target

Germany called Tuesday for governments around the world to work on setting an ambitious target for renewable energy that would ring in the end of the fossil fuel age and help prevent dangerous global warming. Suzlon bags 69.3MW wind energy project from Juniper Green Energy

Renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon has bagged an order to develop 69.3 MW wind power project from Juniper Green Energy. The project is located at Surendra Nagar district in Gujarat and is expected to be commissioned in 2024, a company statement said. "Suzlon Group today announced the second order of the 3 MW product series for the development of a 69.3 MW wind power project for Juniper Green Energy Private Limited," it stated. The company, however, did not disclose the financial details of the order. "We are delighted to announce our first order with Juniper Green Energy Private Limited and our second order for the 3 MW series," JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group, said. Suzlon will install 22 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower of their new product with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW each. State-owned NTPC arm gets 500 MW renewable energy project from REMCL

State-owned power giant NTPC on Thursday said its arm NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPCREL) has bagged a 500 MW renewable energy round-the-clock (RE-RTC) project. The work has been awarded by REMCL, which is a joint venture (JV) company of the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd, NTPC said in a statement. "NTPC REL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NGEL which in turn is a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, received Letter of Acceptance for 500 MW RE-RTC power from REMCL," it said. The capacity has been won in a competitive bidding process for a total 900 MW RE-RTC on offer, NTPC said, adding a power purchase agreement (PPA) will be signed with Indian Railways for 25 years. Through a combination of solar and wind power, the project would supply round-the-clock green energy to REMCL. NTPC, under the Ministry of Power, is the country's largest power producing company.

Suzlon bags order for 39-MW wind energy project from First Energy

Renewable energy solution provider Suzlon on Thursday announced that it has bagged a 39-MW wind power project from Thermax Group company First Energy. This order is part of a 100-MW wind-solar hybrid project by First Energy 5 Pvt Ltd, a company statement said. Suzlon will install 13 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a hybrid lattice tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3 MW each. The project, to be located at Thalaikattupuram, Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, is expected to be commissioned in 2024. As part of the agreement, Suzlon will supply the wind turbines (equipment supply) and supervise the project including erection and commissioning. Suzlon will also provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services post-commissioning. No plans to extend ALMM for renewable energy player, says official

There are no plans to further extend the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) of solar photovoltaic modules at the moment, a senior government official said on Wednesday. Lalit Bohra, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has made the remarks at the annual 'Mercom India Renewables Summit 2023' in the national capital. Replying to a question on plans of extension to the ALMM, he said: "ALMM was only deferred for a year. As of now, we are very clear we are not extending it". The government earlier extended the ALMM by one year till March 2024 amid industry raising concerns over raw material availability and supply chain. ALMM was introduced to boost domestic manufacturing. Govt unveils plans to add 250GW renewable energy capacity in next 5 years

The government on Wednesday announced a plan to add 250 GW of renewable energy capacity in the next five years to achieve its target of 500 GW of clean energy by 2030. The government has decided to invite bids for 50 GW of renewable energy capacity annually for the next five years i.e., from Financial Year 2023-24 till Financial Year 2027-28, a Ministry of New and Renewable Energy statement said. President Biden offers $450 mn for clean energy projects at coal mines

President Joe Biden's administration is making USD450 million available for solar farms and other clean energy projects at the site of current or former coal mines, part of his efforts to combat climate change.
