IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said India is focused on practical applications of AI, including enterprise productivity, and solutions for population-scale challenges such as healthcare, agriculture, and climate change. Speaking at a research symposium at the AI Impact Summit, the minister also expressed happiness over the strong participation and optimism shown by young people at an AI Expo on Tuesday. He informed that about 2.5 lakh attendees, mostly under the age of 30, took part across the exhibition area. "It was a phenomenal response when I interacted with the young minds. I was so surprised by the optimism that most of the young people expressed towards this opportunity which is coming for them," Vaishnaw said. The minister said he was feeling hopeful for a totally new future for India and for the world. A strong partnership between India and the US in AI offers a tremendous opportunity to deliver across sectors such as healthcare, education, job training and digital literacy, a senior official of AI operations giant Rubrik has said. AI reshapes hiring priorities, entry-level jobs see slowdown: ICRIER report

Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption has led firms to moderate hiring, primarily at the entry-level, according to a report. According to a study by the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) supported by OpenAI, AI adoption is reshaping hiring priorities across the sector. The study finds that 63 per cent of firms reported increased demand for candidates with domain expertise and AI or data skills, pointing to a growing premium on hybrid skill sets as AI is integrated into core workflows. Titled 'AI and Jobs: This Time Is No Different', the study represents one of the most comprehensive firm-level assessments of gen AI adoption in India to date. The study, conducted between November 2025 and January 2026, has received responses from 650 IT firms across 10 cities in India.
