HC orders Royal Enfield workers to not protest within 100 metres of factory

The Madras High Court has directed the workers of Royal Enfield not to hold any protest within 100 meters from the factory premises. It may be noted, similar direction was given to Yamaha workers two days back. While the protesting workers have decided to return to work from Friday morning, Royal Enfield has announced paid holiday stating that it did not have materials, said R Sampath, vice president of Royal Enfield Employees Union.Emails sent to companies did not elicit response till the time of going to print.Workers from Royal Enfield and India Yamaha Motor have been protesting demanding right to form union at their respective factories, while Myoung Shin Automotive India Pvt Ltd (MSI) a supplier of Hyundai. Royal Enfield starts commercial production at its new facility near Chennai

Royal Enfield has started commercial production from its new manufacturing facility at Vallam Vadagal near Chennai. Spread over 50 acres, the Vallam Vadagal plant will be Royal Enfield's third manufacturing facility and will manufacture Royal Enfield motorcycles for India and international markets.In 2017-18, the company plans to invest Rs 800 crores, largely towards capacity expansion at Vallam Vadagal, new products and platforms, and technical Centres in Leicester, UK and Chennai. This investment will be funded through internal accruals. In 2017-18, the combined production capacity from all the three plants is planned to be 825,000 units. In 2016-17, Royal Enfield produced and sold 667,135 motorcycles, nearing its installed capacity. Royal Enfield identifies 4 core markets overseas, to double retail presence

Royal Enfield (RE) is planning to almost double its exclusive retail presence in the international markets as part of its expansion strategy overseas. RE has identified four core markets overseas - Tailand, Indonesia, Columbia and Brazil - which could become very large markets for the company over a period of time.Siddhartha Lal, managing director and CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd said that so far the company has opened around 25 exclusive stores overseas and plans are to add another 20-25 stores during this year.
