Hemant Dua steps down as DD CEO

Longstanding Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua today stepped down from his position, JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited announced here. From September 1, Dua will serve on the board of the JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited as a Non-Executive Director. The decision was on the cards as Daredevils failed to qualify for the knock-out stage even once during his six-year tenure as the CEO. In fact, some of the decisions like paying astronomical amounts to out-of-form players like Yuvraj Singh or Glenn Maxwell drew sharp criticism. Daredevils' disastrous performance during the 2018 edition was the final nail in the coffin. "DD has been a part of my journey for sometime now. The franchise is close to my heart and thus, I will always be available for the betterment of the franchise. Gold decoded: When coach Dhillon got Tejinderpal to shift focus from ailing father to Asiad

Had it not been for some prudent decision making by Tejinderpal Singh Toor's personal coach MS Dhillon, the star shot putter would have quit rather than shattering Asian Games record. The 23-year-old athlete from Moga district in Punjab won a historic gold by hurling the iron ball to record-breaking distance of 20.75m. When his father Karam Singh, who cajoled him into taking up shot put, was referred to an Army Hospital in New Delhi for chemotherapy, Tejinder wanted to focus on the treatment of his father. Padoge likhoge banoge nawab, kheloge kudoge hoge kharab (you will make it big if you are educated, sports won't lead you anywhere). It is still taken very seriously in my family. More than that, the fact I have cleared after so many attempts gives me a lot of satisfaction," Chauhan told PTI. Having finally completed school, he is excited about college and is already looking forward to the World University Games. "Hopefully, I won't take that long to finish college. I don't have a job also, so ...
