Team 'Delhi 3BL' to participate in FIBA World Tour Masters

'Delhi 3BL', who are participating in the 3 x 3 Pro Basketball League (3BL) will participate in two FIBA 3 x 3 World Tour Masters - the Mexico City Masters and Hyderabad Masters. Mexico City Masters will take place on September 8-9 andHyderabad Masters on September 22-23,it was announced at a media conference here. League Commissioner Rohit Bakshi, actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt who is co-owner of Delhi Hoopers, and veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt were present for the conference. Delhi 3BL have represented India at the international platform in 3 x 3 basketball the first time at Utsunomiya Masters in July and emerged ninth in the rankings. Meanwhile, thefinal round of 3 x 3 Pro Basketball League will be held at the Phoenix Market City in Kurla tomorrow and Sunday.

India lose to Iran again, this time women's team fails to defend kabaddi title

Traditional powerhouse India returned without a gold in kabaddi for the first time in the history of the Asian Games after Iran shocked their women's team in the final to join their male counterparts in walking away with the top honours here today. The Iranian women came from behind to shock India 27-24, emulating their male counterparts, who had shocked seven-time champions India in the semi-finals yesterday. Later in the day, the Iran men's team defeated Korea 26-16 in the final to claim their maiden gold. The defeat means India will return without a gold from the Asian Games for the first time since the sport made its debut at the continental event in Beijing in 1990. The men's team had won seven straight titles while women's were two-time defending champions at the Asian Games. Dipa finishes 5th in beam final, Indian gymnastics campaign ends without medal

India's campaign in the Asian Games gymnastics ended today without a medal after Dipa Karmakar finished fifth in the women's balance beam event final here. Dipa, who was the fifth gymnast to perform on the beam, finished at the same spot with a score of 12.500 in the eight-woman final. She had scored 12.750 in the qualification round. China's Chen Yile clinched the gold with a score of 14.600 while North Korean Kim Jong Su (13.400) and Zhang Jin (13.325) of China took the silver and bronze respectively. Considering that she was not 100 per cent fit, Dipa's performance was not too bad. The balance beam was also not her favourite event. She could not qualify for the final in her pet event of vault in which she had finished fourth in the 2016 Rio Olympics. India's Anirban Lahiri endured a topsy-turvy opening day with a card of even par 71 to lie Tied 60th alongside a big bunch that included Tiger Woods at Northern Trust, the first event on the FedExCup play-offs. Bopanna-Sharan's instant success opens possibility of ATP partnership

A golden start to their international partnership at the Asian Games has opened the possibility of Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan teaming up on the ATP tour sometime in future. Top players for MCC 6-Red snooker tournament

Top cueists from across the country will take part in the Madras Cricket Club6 Red Snooker tournament to be held here from August 27 to September 2. The tournament will see 48 leading players take part, a press release said. Delhi HC directs sports ministry to consider selection of para-athletes

Following a petition filed by ten differently-abled table tennis players, the Delhi High Court on Friday directed the secretary of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) to consider their selection in the final contingent of the upcoming 2018 Asian Para Games.Earlier this week, the differently-abled players moved a petition in the court against the Sports Ministry, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) as well as Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) over their non-selection in the Asian Para Games.The players had alleged that despite being selected to represent the country in the prestigious event, the authorities are refusing to send them for the same.The court, in its order, further asked the ministry to pass an order in the matter within a week.The Asian Para Games are slated to take place from October 6 and will run till October 13 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Shuttler Srikanth suffers shocking loss in Asian Games

India's Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the 18th Asian Games after suffering a shocking loss to Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki Vincent in the men's singles second round of the badminton event here today. The former world no. 1 Indian, who had clinched a silver at the Commonwealth Games besides leading the mixed team to the coveted gold, failed to outwit the 28th ranked Wong Wing Ki, going down 21-23 19-21 in a hard-fought match. Srikanth came into the match with a 5-2 head-to-head record against Wong Wing Ki but it didn't matter in the end as the Hong Kong shuttler proved to be a better player. He put up a tough defence and produced more precise strokes to outwit the Indian in a 43-minute duel. Currently ranked eighth in the world, Srikanth had lost 21-23 22-20 10-21 to Indonesia's Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the men's team event. Srikanth, who had won four titles in a watershed year last season, will next play at the Japan Open from September 11 to 16.

Naorem Boynao Singh went down to Dumaan Dines of Philippines in the men's 50-55 kg quarterfinal match, thus ending the Indian men's pencak silat campaign at the 18th Asian Games here today. Heena Sidhu put behind a modest qualification to win her maiden Asian Games individual medal today, her bronze in the women's 10m air pistol taking India's haul at the Jakabaring Shooting Range to nine. Sidhu came from behind in the finals and was just 0.1 from the lead after she produced a 10.8 on the 21st shot. Her next shot was a 9.6 and her overall score of 219.2 could only give her a bronze.
