Hackers hit PGA computer servers, demand ransom: report
Computer hackers have struck PGA of America servers at this week's 100th PGA Championship, demanding a Bitcoin ransom to unlock files without risking data not easily replaced, Golfweek's website reported. The files, Golfweek said, contained digital promotional banners and logos used on signs around Bellerive as well as materials for next month's Ryder Cup in France. The PGA of America does not intend to meet extortion demands, unnamed sources told the magazine, and the organization has retained outside information technology experts to ensure the year's final major tournament remains unaffected, according to the report. The PGA had no comment on the matter. PGA play began today at Bellerive Country Club. The Ryder Cup is set for September 28-30 at Le Golf National in Paris. The Indian U-15 women's national team inflicted an embarrassing 12-0 defeat on Sri Lanka, kick-starting its campaign in the age-group SAFF Championship on a resounding note here today. Hima Das signs up with sports management firm
World champion sprinter Hima Das has inked a multi-crore two-year deal with sports management firm Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS), the company said today. Hima, who scripted history by winning a gold medal in the women's 400-metre event at the IAAF World U-20 Championships recently, joins the likes of boxing stars MC Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, rising paddler Manika Batra and world champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu in signing up with IOS. The company did not specify the exact monetary details of the deal. Incessant rain washed out the morning session on day one of the second cricket Test between India and England at Lord's here today. The players did not even step out for warm-ups due to the rain, lashing the city of London since last night. Low hanging clouds and a lack of wind meant that the weather conditions are not likely to change anytime soon. The match officials decided to take an early lunch, moving the scheduled break ahead by 30 minutes. Weather forecast does predict a change in situation around teatime, so there could be an extended last session. Chandimal was included in a 15-member squad for the one-off T20 that will round off South Africa's tour of the island nation Tuesday in Colombo, Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement. The 28-year-old missed the two-Test series, which Sri Lanka won, and was out of the first four one-day internationals.
