Aditi makes strong start in Women's PGA Championships

India's Aditi Ashok opened with a steady 2-under 70 that positioned her nicely in tied 15th place at the end of the first round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championships, the third Major of the year for women. Starting on the tenth, she birdied the 11th, 14th and 17th while dropping a shot on 12th and turned in 2-under 34. On the second nine, the front side of the course, she had a bogey on fifth and birdie on seventh and ended the day at 70. Aditi, who missed the cut at the ANA Inspiration and then missed the US Women's Open, will be keen to make up here. Currently lying 76th in world rankings and 57th in CME rankings on the LPGA Tour, Aditi has been having a middling time on the Tour. India U-16s to play 7 Internationals against 4 national teams ahead of AFC Championship

Ramping up its preparations for the 2018 AFC U-16 Championships, the Indian junior team will play seven international matches against four national squads, its sojourn starting with a month-long three-nation tour of China, Thailand and Malaysia. The July leg is marked as the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) final preparation ahead of the AFC Championship scheduled in September in Malaysia. The boys, coached by Bibiano Fernandes have been training in Kolkata for the last five weeks since returning victorious from Serbia in May. The 25-member squad and seven support staff will now leave for Weinan city, China tonight to participate in a four-nation invitational tournament alongside the U16 national teams of DPR Korea, Thailand and host China. India open their campaign against host China on July 3 followed by matches against Thailand on July 5, and DPR Korea on July 7. Lahiri makes a strong start in first round at Quicken Loans PGA event

Anirban Lahiri opened with a solid 3-under 67 settling for a tied 10th place after the first round at the Quicken Loans National Championship, here today. Lahiri, who logged his first top-10 finish of 2018 last week at the Travelers Championships, had a fine run of four birdies from second to fifth. Fit-again Ben Stokes back in England squad for India ODIs

All-rounder Ben Stokes has been named in the 14-member England squad for the three-match ODI series against India, starting July 18. Stokes, who tore his left hamstring during the Pakistan Test series, did not take part in England's 6-0 whitewash of Australia. He was also not picked for the three-match T20 International against India in order to give him full time to recuperate. Stokes is expected to return to competitive cricket with T20 match for Durham against Yorkshire on July 5. However if he is fully fit, he could be back in action for the final T20 International against India. All-rounder Ben Stokes has been named in the 14-member England squad for the three-match ODI series against India, starting July 18.
