Lahiri finishes T-37th; Woods 23rd at Memorial Tournament

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri continued to struggle with his putting and carded his first over-par card of the week, a one-over 73, to sign off tied 37th at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide on the PGA Tour. Lahiri, who started the final day at seven-under and in tied 21st place, finished at six-under overall. Through the week, Lahiri got his driving and iron play fairly right, but it was on the greens that he faltered yet again despite a new putter. Bryson DeChambeau, who three-putted for bogey on the 18th to finish at one-under 71 and fall into a three-way playoff, won on the second play-off hole against Byeong Hun An (69) and Kyle Stanley (70). The three players finished at 15-under. DeChambeau also moved to fourth on FedEx Cup rankings. Also on the final day, there was Tiger Woods (72), who also could not get his putter going and managed only three birdies, giving away three bogeys on the back-nine. He ended at nine-under 279 for a tied 23rd finish. Lahiri had two ...

Brazil fans relieved after Neymar's return before World Cup

Neymar needed only 23 minutes to reassure Brazilians that his recovery is right on track for the World Cup. Three months after undergoing surgery on his right foot, Neymar returned to action for Brazil and inspired a 2-0 win over Croatia in an international friendly that showed fans, teammates and coach Tite that he's in good shape for Russia. "Any team would be relieved having such a player back," defender Thiago Silva said after Sunday's win at Anfield. "We are a great team, but Ney has that light. When the game gets tough, he steps up to the challenge." The first half was dominated by heavy marking. But after Neymar replaced Fernandinho, the five-time-World Cup champions were much more fluent and effective playing with the formation - Neymar joining Willian and Gabriel Jesus up front - that is likely to start at the World Cup. England's Root warns rout of Pakistan can't 'paper over cracks'

Joe Root has insisted a dominant win against Pakistan must not be allowed to "paper over the cracks" when it comes to England's form in Test cricket. The England captain saw his side end a two-match series all square at 1-1 after a thumping innings and 55-run victory completed inside three days at his Headingley home ground on Sunday. But this success, which meant England avoided a third successive series loss after reverses in Australia and New Zealand, only came about after Pakistan outplayed their hosts in all aspects of the game to win the first Test at Lord's by nine wickets. England don't have another Test match until they welcome India for the first of a five-match series at Edgbaston in August, with their attention now on white-ball cricket as they begin the run-in to next year's World Cup on home soil. But Test skipper Root was keen that lessons be learnt from a lamentable loss at Lord's. "It's very important we don't paper over the cracks and think this is going to be us ...
