India's Amittrajit to compete in FIA European Rally Championship

Multiple National Racing and Rally Champion, Amittrajit Ghosh, will become the first Indian to compete in the prestigious FIA European Rally Championship.Team RRPM announced this on Tuesday, revealing that their star driver will begin his campaign in Round three of the Championship, the EKO Acropolis Rally 2018, to be held around the city of Lamia in Greece from June 1 to 3.The Kolkata lad, who will have long time co-driver Ashwin Naik by his side, has decided to take part in a few carefully chosen rounds of the ERC to gain experience at this level of rallying.Speaking from London, where he is based now, Amittrajit, also a Team Mahindra Adventure driver in the MRF FMSCI INRC 2018, said, "It is a proud moment for us to become the first Indian driver, co-driver and team to be competing in the ERC, second only to the World Rally Championship."He added, "Our aim will be to gather valuable miles and experience through this year, in preparation for an all-out assault in the next. Joachim Loew extends contract as Germany coach until 2022

Joachim Loew has extended his contract as Germany head coach until 2022, the German FA (DFB) announced today. In the post since 2006, Loew, 58, who steered Germany to their 2014 World Cup triumph, has signed a two-year extension to take him through to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Reinhard Grindel, the president of the DFB, confirmed the news at the announcement of Germany's World Cup squad for the Russia 2018 finals and also revealed Oliver Bierhoff, the national team's director, has extended until 2024. Manohar elected unopposed, to serve 2nd term as ICC chairman

Former BCCI president Shashank Manohar will expectedly serve a second term as the independent chairman of the International Cricket Council after he was elected unopposed by the governing body's Board. Manohar, who became the first independent ICC Chairman in 2016, will continue for a second two-year term following his unopposed election. According to the election process, ICC Directors were each allowed to nominate one candidate, who had to be either a present or a past ICC Director. Nominees with the support of two or more Directors would have been eligible to contest an election. However, given that Manohar was the sole nominee for the position, the independent Audit Committee Chairman, Edward Quinlan, who has been overseeing the election process, declared the process complete, and Manohar the successful candidate.
