Arthur eager for Pakistan to resume full home schedule

Nine years on from the armed attack on the Sri Lanka team bus in Lahore, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur says he hopes "we're really close" to the world's leading teams touring there again. Kohli fined 12 lakh for slow over rate against CSK

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) against Chennai Super Kings here on Wednesday night. The hosts had put on board a challenging 205 for eight but riding on MS Dhoni's power-packed 34-ball 70, Super Kings overhauled the formidable target with two balls to spare. AFI selects Indian team for SAF Junior meet in Colombo

The Athletic Federation of India (AFI) on Wednesday announced that national junior record breaker sprinter Gurindervir Singh will lead the Indian athletics team at the third South Asian Junior Athletics Championships to be held from May 5 to 6 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.The AFI selection committee for juniors selected 31 boys and 28 girls for the SAF championships.Sprinter Gurindervir from Punjab shattered the U-20 record in the 100m, clocking 10.47 seconds at the 16th Federation Cup National Junior Athletics Championships concluded last week in Coimbatore.Besides India and host Sri Lanka, the other SAF nations participating in the two-day championship are Bangladesh, Pakistan, Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal.Sanjay Garnaik, chief coach (juniors) said, "SAF will serve as a good competitive event for juniors ahead of the Asian Junior Championships to be held in Japan in June. Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again showed his prowess was not on the wane as he blazed his way to a 34-ball 70 and powered Chennai Super Kings to a five-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League here tonight. Opener Ambati Rayudu laid the foundation with a sparkling 82 off 53 balls, hitting eight sixes and three fours. Railways honour CWG winners, to form new promotion policy in 1 month

The Railways today gave away handsome monetary rewards to its 15 medal-winning athletes of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, with the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal promising to draft a new and much-better promotion policy for its sportspersons within a month. Felicitating the Gold Coast-returned Railway athletes during a function orgainsed by the Railway Sports Promotion Board here, Goyal announced Rs 25 lakh, Rs 20 lakh and Rs 15 lakh each for its athletes who have won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Goyal also said an immediate promotion to the officer rank for weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who has bagged the gold in 48kg category in Gold Coast. A B de Villiers and Quinton de Kock struck blistering half centuries to propel Royal Challengers Bangalore to 205 for eight against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League here tonight. De Villiers smashed 68 off 30 balls, hitting eight sixes and two fours during his onslaught, while de Kock made 53 off 37 deliveries with the help of four sixes and a boundary.
