KRYHPSA split points with Rising

Rising Student's Club and KRYHPSA played out a 1-1 draw to split points in the ongoing Hero Indian Women's League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here today. After a barren first half, Anju Tamang scored the opening goal with a superlative strike in the 76th minute before Ratanbala Devi equalised in the 78th. The match began on an even note with both teams having a look at the goal in the opening minutes. Sanju had a crack at the goal while Ashalata had a free-kick of her own. The match turned cagey after that as the teams were unable to create any clear cut chance. Ashalata was the driving force behind the team who directed the ball to the forward line of Prameshwori and Kamala. Ratanbala hammered a shot on goal in the 37th but it went way over. On the other end Pyari had a free header but it went wide as the half ended goalless. In the second half Bala Devi came in to help the KRYHPSA cause and it showed immediately as she combined well with Ashalata and Ratanbala to trouble ..

Pakistan won't take Windies lightly: Shoaib Malik

His side may be having an edge over West Indies in the upcoming three-match T20I series due to home conditions, but Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has refused to take the Caribbean side lightly.Talking after the team's practice session in preparation at the National Stadium, Malik said that Pakistan would not be complacent against West Indies because the islanders' new and young players could really spring a surprise in the shortest format of the game."I have been playing the Caribbean Premier League for the last 5 to 6 years, so I know their team is really solid. We focus more on the big names but ignore the basic fact that it's the team combination that wins you games. Karachi set to host 3 T20s against West Indies

Pakistan gets another chance to showcase its ability to host international cricket when West Indies starts a three-match Twenty20 series tomorrow in Karachi. The southern port city had a successful dress rehearsal for the April 1-3 games when it hosted the Pakistan Super League final last week. Although it was a domestic T20 final, several foreign players including former West Indies captain Darren Sammy, South Africa's JP Duminy and Luke Ronchi of New Zealand took part and were provided with almost presidential-like security. Karachi last hosted an international game in 2009 when Sri Lanka played a test match before an attack by gunmen on its team bus in Lahore shut the door on international cricket in Pakistan. Six Pakistan policemen and two civilians were killed in that attack, and six members of the Sri Lanka team were injured. But the Pakistan Cricket Board has accelerated its efforts to win back the confidence of overseas cricket teams in the last two years. Lahore hosted ...

Caribbean schoolgirl swimmer eyes selfie with pin-up Peaty

As many of the world's top swimmers go for gold at the Commonwealth Games, one shy schoolgirl from St. Lucia has a more modest goal -- a photo with English hunk Adam Peaty. But 16-year-old Katie Kyle, set to compete in the 50 and 100 metres butterfly for the Caribbean island, first has to pluck up the courage to speak to the Olympic breaststroke champion. "I don't know if I'll be brave enough to go up and be like 'hey!'" she told AFP on Saturday. "But there will be some people, like Adam Peaty, I'll be like 'hey, can I get a picture with you?' "Just to meet and talk to all the guys who swim fast will be great," added Kyle, who along with Jean Luc Zephir makes up St. Lucia's Commonwealth Games swim team in Gold Coast. "I'm still kind of shocked that I made it this far." Kyle has been based in Britain since last summer after deciding to leave St. Lucia because of a lack of training facilities. "I thought I could better my training in Britain with bigger pools, better facilities," said ..

Bengal veteran duo of Jiten Murmu and Tirthankar Sarkar scored against Karnataka to set up a meeting with Kerala who pipped Mizoram 1-0 in the other semifinal. Kerala have emerged the overwhelming favourites at the tournament but face their biggest test against a Bengal team which knows all about them, having faced the Southern outfit earlier in a redundant Group A game. South Africa reach 400 at lunch

Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock frustrated Australia as South Africa continued to build an imposing first innings total on the second day of the fourth Test at the Wanderers Stadium today. South Africa were 400 for seven at lunch, with Bavuma on 61 not out. Bavuma and De Kock (39) put on 85 for the seventh wicket - the fifth partnership of 50 or more in the innings. It put South Africa in a strong position in a match which the hosts need only to draw to clinch their first home series win against Australia since 1969/70. South Africa lead the series 2-1. Resuming at 313 for six on a dark, gloomy morning, Bavuma and De Kock had to weather some challenging bowling from Pat Cummins and Chadd Sayers, armed with a ball which was only eight overs old at the start of play. The floodlights were switched on after only ten minutes. Bavuma scored only four runs off the first 49 balls he faced on Saturday but then added another 21 runs off 21 balls to reach his fifty off 120 deliveries. The stand

Australia women set record total to claim T20 tri-series

Skipper Meg Lanning's blazing knock helped Australia reach a record total before Megan Schutt led a brilliant bowling performance to beat arch-rivals England by 57 runs in the title clash of the women's T20 tri-series here today. Australia rode on a stunning display by Lanning (88 not out) and Elyse Villani (51 of 30 balls) as they amassed 209/4, the highest-ever total in a women's T20 International, surpassing the previous best of 204/1 posted by South Africa against Netherlands in 2010. The Southern Stars then performed with the ball by restricting England to 152/9, wining the game with ease. England had a bad start and were teetering at 14/2 with Breynoy Smith and Tamsin Beaumont falling for ducks on a placid track at the Brabourne Stadium. But Opener Danielle Wyatt (34 off 17 balls) made her intentions clear by hitting three boundaries in the very first over. Wyatt was going well and was poised for a big score, but after two consecutive boundaries she failed to get the elevation ..
