Defending I-League champions Aizawl FC claimed on Sunday that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) owed them roughly Rs 57 lakh towards outstanding dues since the 2015-16 season.
Defending champion Karnataka's Kishan Gangolli won the 13th edition of the National 'A' Chess Championship organised by All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) here today. At the end of the 13th round today Asian Championship winner, Gangolli became the champion for the fifth consecutive time with 10.5 points, a media release said. Bengaluru FC today left for Maldives to play their AFC Cup first-leg play-off match against T C Sports Club on February 13 despite a government advisory not to travel to the island nation because of the prevailing political turmoil there. The All India Football Federation disciplinary committee today imposed a fine of Rs 3 lakh on reigning I-League champions Aizawl FC for crowd violence during their home match against Mohun Bagan on January 25. The five-member disciplinary committee headed by eminent lawyer Usha Nath Banerjee today found Aizawl FC "guilty" and asked the Mizoram club to submit the fine before their match against Indian Arrows on February 23. The AIFF also threatened to conduct matches "closed doors" if Aizawl did not undertake in writing that they will take responsibility for the safety, security and peace at the stadium.
