Better equipped to bat at No 4: Rahane states his choice

Ajinkya Rahane's batting position in the ODI side has been a topic of debate but the Mumbai batsman made it clear that his preferred slot will be number four after a well-made 79 in India's six-wicket win against South Africa in the first ODI. Prior to this series, Rahane was being dubbed as the reserve opener as team management experimented with a number of batsmen at that position but things have changed after his half-century in the opening game coming at number four. KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik have all been tried at that position with mixed results. Asked if he is more comfortable at number four, Rahane said:"I am better equipped for batting at number four, I am more matured now. I know how to build my innings at number four," Rahane said ahead of the second ODI. "Batting at number four is different. The confidence came from last Test win at Johannesburg, where I scored 48 runs. But I was actually determined .

Desperate East Bengal hope to return to winning ways

As the I-League title race has opened up after defeat of leaders Minerva Punjab, third-placed East Bengal will look to get some crucial points when they clash with Indian Arrows here tomorrow. This gives East Bengal a chance to catch up with Minerva, who have 26 points, six more than East Bengal. Of the six remaining matches, East Bengal play three at home and take on Minerva in an away match as Khalid Jamil's team cannot afford to lose from now on. Two goals inside the opening quarter of the hour by Mahmoud Al Amna and Katsumi Yusa had handed East Bengal a 2-0 victory over the developmental outfit of the All India Football Federation, last month. Indian Arrows have three wins from 13 matches as they have 11 points to remain on eighth place in the table. Incidentally, the win in the capital was East Bengal's last win

"I managed to sleep, yeah," he added, laughing. "It's going to be an additional pressure to deal with but I believe it's a good pressure. You get good and bad sort of pressures,
