Asia Road Racing: Rajiv snaps maiden points outside India
IDEMITSU Honda Racing India rider Rajiv Sethu snapped his first international points in the 2018 Asia Road Racing Championship here Saturday. Starting from a far 20th on the Buriram grid, Rajiv worked his way and finished 13th, thereby scoring his first ever point outside Indian soil in Asia Road Racing Championship. Rajiv clocked his lap time of 1:55:800 with a top speed of 191 kilometers per hour. In the Super Sport 600CC race one, rider Taiga Hada added two points to team's kitty, while rookie Anish Shetty too climbed three spots in a closely contested Asia Production 250 CC class. With the battle reaching its peak in the finale at the Chang International Circuit, the AP 250 CC qualifier, Sethu, set the tone of the battle with 22 of the 27 riders having gap of just three seconds. Bangladesh spinners took a firm grip on the second Test against West Indies after Mahmudullah Riyad struck a career best 136 to guide the hosts to 508 in the first innings in Dhaka on Saturday. Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan shared five wickets between them as West Indies were reduced to 75-5 at stumps on the the second day, trailing the hosts by 433 runs in the first innings. Railways to run glass-enclosed vistadome coach in Kalka-Shimla route in next 10 days
The railways will run a vistadome coach on the narrow gauge in the Kalka-Shimla route in the next ten days and it is likely to cost more than Rs 500 per seat, catering to mostly foreign tourists. For the first time, tourists in Shimla will be able to experience snow and rainfall in these glass-enclosed coaches. The only such coach in a narrow gauge network exists in the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR). Such coaches, with transparent roofs to enjoy the scenic beauty outside, are currently run in broad gauge networks between Mumbai-Goa and Vishakapatnam to Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh. There is also a proposal to run vistadome coaches in Jammu and Kashmir, but security issues have kept the plans on hold, sources said. The vistadome coach, which will run on the 95.5 km route, has been built locally in 100 days at a cost of around Rs 10 lakh. 2020 Olympic organisers working for boxing at Games despite freeze
The organisers of Tokyo's 2020 Olympics said Saturday they would continue working to stage a boxing tournament at the games despite a freeze by the International Olympic Committee. On Friday, the IOC said it was freezing preparations for boxing at the 2020 Games and launched a probe into the sport's troubled governing body -- the International Boxing Association (AIBA). It said it wanted the sport included in 2020, but warned its inquiry could see boxing excluded. On Saturday, Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto said that while "official level contact" was halted by the IOC's decision, working-level contact with AIBA would continue. "Working level contact is allowed, that's our understanding.
