Dubai's Emaar group to develop 500,000 sq ft shopping mall in Srinagar

Dubai-based realty firm Emaar Properties on Monday said it will develop a 5 lakh square feet shopping mall at Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the governments of Dubai and Jammu & Kashmir to facilitate investments into this proposed project, Emaar said in a statement. This will be the first significant FDI investment in the union territory, it added. According to the MoU, Emaar will develop 'Emaar Mall' of 5,00,000 square feet in size in Srinagar. "The UAE and India are comprehensive strategic partners and this project by EMAAR will be a landmark of Jammu and Kashmir. I would like to congratulate EMAAR and all the partners in this project , and am sure we will see many such projects coming up in the near future," said H. E. Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist killed in encounter in Srinagar today

A Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Harwan area of the city in the early hours of Sunday, police said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Harwan following specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area, he said. The search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists fired upon the forces, who retaliated. In the ensuing gunfight, a terrorist was killed, the official said. The slain terrorist was identified as Saifulla, resident of Pakistan. "Killed #terrorist identified as Saifulla @ Abu Khalid @ Shawaz, resident of Karachi (#Pakistan), affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit LeT. Gadkari reviews construction work of all-weather Zojila, Z-Morh tunnels

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday reviewed the construction work of strategically important Zojila and Z-Morh tunnels on the Srinagar-Leh highway. Speaking to reporters at the Z-Morh tunnel site, Gadkari said his ministry is also building 20 tunnels of a total length of 32 km in Jammu and Kashmir and 11 tunnels of a total length of 20 km in Ladakh. The cost of building these 31 tunnels in Union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will be around Rs 1.4 lakh crore, the road transport and highways minister said. The Union minister for road transport and highways also said all the projects undertaken by the BJP-led central government should be completed before the 2024 general elections. He said there will be no compromise on the quality of the construction. A foundation run by former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has set up 50 critical care unit (CCU) beds at the Government Medical College & Hospital here to tackle a possible third wave of the coronavirus. In a press statement on Monday, a foundation spokesperson said the CCU beds have been set up under its 'Mission1000Beds initiative', in collaboration with Accenture.
