No hung assembly, BJP will get majority in Telangana: Kishan Reddy

In the face of "simmering anger" against the ruling BRS in Telangana, the BJP will get a comfortable majority to form its first government in the state after the November 30 polls, state BJP chief G Kishan Reddy has said. There will be no hung assembly and the saffron party will land in the ruling saddle comfortably, Reddy, Union Minister for Tourism, told PTI in an exclusive interview. 4,798 candidates file nominations for 119 assembly seats in Telangana

A total of 4,798 candidates from various political parties filed 5,716 sets of nominations for the 119 seats ahead of the November 30 Assembly elections in Telangana. The process of filing nominations began on November 3 when the gazette notification for the election was issued and continued till November 10, the last day for submitting nominations. The nominations would be scrutinised on November 13 and November 15 is the last date for withdrawal of candidatures, according to the schedule of election. Gajwel Assembly constituency saw the maximum number of 145 candidates, who filed 154 sets of nominations. BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is seeking re-election from Gajwel and BJP leader Eatala Rajender is among those who filed their nominations from there. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday lashed out at the Congress for its minority declaration' in poll-bound Telangana, claiming that the party is fulfilling the vision of Mohammad Ali Jinnah's Muslim League. Won't campaign in poll-bound states: Sukhu returns to Shimla post treatment

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi, arrived in Shimla on Saturday after 15 days. Talking to the media persons here, Sukhu said he would not campaign in the poll-bound states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana as doctors have advised him to rest for two months. He will, however, start working and meeting with people, the chief minister added. T'gana polls: Cong releases Minority Declaration, promises Rs 4k cr budget

The Telangana Congress has said it would increase the budget up to Rs 4,000 crore annually towards minority welfare, besides conducting the caste census within six months after coming to power, if elected in the November 30 assembly polls. The "Minority Declaration" released on Thursday, said it will ensure fair reservation for all backward classes including, minorities in jobs, education and government schemes. Additionally, the Congress promised Rs 1,000 crore per annum to provide subsidised loans to jobless minority youth and women. Under the Abdul Kalam Taufa-e-Taleem Scheme, the party said it would provide financial assistance of Rs five lakh to Muslim, Christian, Sikh, and other minority youths upon completing M.Phil and Ph.D programmes, it said. The Declaration said a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000-Rs 12,000 for priests of all religions including Imams, Muezzins, Khadims, Pastors and Granthis. I-T raids at residences, offices of T'gana Cong candidate Srinivas Reddy

Ahead of November 30 assembly polls, the Income Tax department officials on Thursday carried out searches at the residences and offices of Congress candidate P Srinivas Reddy here and in Khammam, sources said. Reddy is contesting from Palair assembly segment in Khammam District. Media reports suggested that Reddy was scheduled to file his nomination papers today. Followers of the Congress leader raised slogans protesting the searches in Khammam. After clinching a seat-sharing agreement with the BJP, actor Pawan Kalyan-led Janasena party has announced its list of eight candidates for the November 30 Assembly polls in Telangana.
