Telangana is working to become a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047 as the country aspires to achieve USD 30 trillion by then, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said here on Monday. Speaking at the Telangana Formation Day celebrations, Reddy said the state government hopes to contribute 10 per cent to the national GDP by 2047. "India is making efforts to emerge as a USD 30 trillion economy by 2047. As India and the (Central) government are making plans to become USD 30 trillion, we brought the Telangana Rising 2047 policy document to make the state a partner in it, to put the state at the top," he said. As part of its goal, the state government has introduced several policies, including energy, tourism, industries, investments and health, he said. All these policies together form the vision of 'Telangana Rising 2047'. This envisions making the state compete with the world, he said. President Droupadi Murmu on Monday greeted people of Telangana on their statehood day, and said the young state has a vibrant ecosystem of economic and technological development. The Supreme Court on Thursday granted interim protection from coercive action to former chief of Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Telangana T Prabhakar Rao, an accused in the phone-tapping case. A bench comprising Justices B V Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma directed Rao to appear before the investigation officer, and said his passport be made available to him. Rao, the key accused in the phone-tapping case, is suspected to be in the US. A Red Corner Notice was issued against him and his passport was revoked, a police official said earlier. The top court also directed Rao to give an undertaking that he would return to India within three days after the receipt of his passport. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, who met Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy in the national capital, has thanked the Centre for sanctioning 2,000 electric buses to Hyderabad under the PM e-DRIVE scheme. The Telangana government has asked five departments, including fire and police, to go into the devastating fire in a building that left 17 people dead and submit a report, state Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said on Monday. The officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), fire, police, revenue department and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) would jointly probe the tragedy and submit a report to the government, Prabhakar, in-charge minister for Hyderabad, told PTI. The officials are expected to visit the building near the Charminar on Monday and have already submitted a preliminary report on the incident. The Supreme Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on a plea seeking directions to the Centre for holding the delimitation exercise to increase the assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh reserved its decision on a plea filed by K Purushottam Reddy who contended that holding delimitation exercise only in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and excluding Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was unconstitutional. The petitioner's counsel said he was seeking parity with UT of Jammu and Kashmir and delimitation exercise be taken in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Additional solicitor general K M Nataraj, appearing for the Centre, referred to Section 26 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and said the delimitation process could be undertaken only after the 2026 census concluded. Three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border on Thursday, police said. The gunfight took place at a forest in Karegutta hills in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district along the inter-state border in the morning when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal operation, a senior police official said. So far, bodies of three Naxalites have been recovered from the encounter site, and several other Maoists are also suspected to have been killed in the fierce gun battle, he said.
