Over 500 persons were booked after protests erupted in Budhana town here over rumours that a youth arrested for allegedly making an "objectionable" social media post against Islam had been released by police, officials said on Sunday, adding that security has been tightened in the town. The protestors were booked for allegedly raising "objectionable slogans", spreading rumours and pelting stones at the shop of Nikhil Tyagi, they said. Police have arrested the main accused in an explosion at a firecracker godown-cum-factory that killed five persons including two children, police said on Tuesday. Bhure Khan alias Nabi Abdullaha was arrested following an encounter and suffered a bullet injury on his led, they said. The police received a tip-off that Khan was hiding near a canal in Shikohabad police station and was trying to flee, Additional SP Praveen Tiwari said. When the police tried to stop Khan, who was trying to escape, he opened fire at them. Police on Sunday booked the owner of the three-storey building here that collapsed a day ago, killing eight people, officials said. Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Amit Verma said a police team is investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon. A senior police official said an FIR has been lodged against Rakesh Singhal, the owner of the Harmilap building in the Transport Nagar area. Around 32 lakh candidates took the test for more than 60,000 vacant posts in Uttar Pradesh Police over five days concluding on Saturday amid tight security, with the state government describing it as the "largest police recruitment exam" in its history. The exam, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), was held at 1,174 centres in 67 districts of the state on the fifth and last day of the exercise, which began last week. The exams were held in two shifts for five days -- August 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the candidates, the UPPRPB, district administrations and the state police for ensuring "smooth and fair" conduct of the exam. Three people, including the IT manager of a Meerut-based private university, have been arrested here for allegedly solving questions of the online CSIR-NET exam for candidates using a remote access software, police said on Saturday. Besides them, four candidates have also been arrested, the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) said and added that the exam was held from July 25 to July 27 and conducted by a company called NSEIT. They were all arrested on July 26 from the exam centre at the Subharti University, the STF said in a statement. It said Arun Sharma, the IT manager at Subharti University, Vineet Kumar, a computer lab assistant at the university, and Ankur Saini, a server operator at NSEIT, were among those arrested. Police entered the ashram premises of religious preacher Jagat Guru Saakar Vishwahari Bhole Baba here and later said he was not present there. A police official said they had gone there to check security arrangements. Police personnel have been deployed outside the ashram since the stampede at the preacher's congregation in Harthras claimed 121 lives. In reply to a question by reporters, Circle Officer Sunil Kumar Singh said police and special operation group (SOG) personnel entered the ashram premises on Wednesday night. Police have lodged an FIR against 45 named and 50 unidentified accused for rioting over the death of a prisoner lodged in the Firozabad jail, an official said on Saturday. A 25-year-old Dalit man remanded in judicial custody on charges of theft died in a hospital, where he was taken on Friday after his condition deteriorated in the prison. The family members of Akash, the victim, alleged that he died after being beaten by the police.
