At least three police officers were killed Saturday when alleged drug traffickers detonated a remote controlled bomb at a station in the northern city of Barranquilla, officials said. Fourteen other officers were wounded in the attack, police General Mariano Botero said. Botero, head of the Barranquilla police, said that one suspect was captured. The bomb was detonated as the officers gathered for morning formation. The blast initially wounded 17 police officers, but three died "due to the gravity of the wounds," Botero added. Barranquilla Mayor Alejandro Char blamed drug traffickers for the attack. "I do not have the slightest doubt that this is a retaliation" for successful police action against drug traffickers, he told reporters. President Juan Manuel Santos blasted the "cowardly attack" on Twitter. Jammu and Kashmir MLA M Y Tarigami today condemned the deaths of two civilians in alleged firing by the Army and demanded an immediate end to "impunity to security forces in such cases". Two civilians were killed when Army personnel fired at a stone-pelting mob in Shopian, prompting Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to order an inquiry into the incident. Suspected Maoists killed one person and injured another in separate incidents in Kothagudem district of Telangana, police said today. They also burnt down some lorries and other vehicles at a sand ramp (where sand is accumulated) at Bhupatiraopet village of the district last night, they said. These attacks were carried out by Maoists who entered into Telangana from Chhattisgarh after crossing the Godavari river, police said. The Naxals stabbed to death a man after branding him a "police informer", they said. In another incident, they fired at a man, suspecting him to be a police informer, at Sundarayya Nagar. A hardcore NDFB(S) militant was killed early today in an encounter with a joint team of the Army and Assam Police in Kokrajhar district. Troops of the Army's Red Horns Division and Assam Police carried out the operation in Akshiguri area, a defence spokesperson said in a release. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Saturday defused an eight kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) in Bijapur district.The troops of 85 battalion detected an IED, in the shape of bamboo clip, at Mahadev Ghati Bhopalpatanam road. The IED was immediately defused, said Sudhir Kumar, Commandant, 85 battalion, CRPF.He added that the weight of the IED was approximately eight kilograms.The area has presence of Maoists.

Two civilians were killed today when security forces allegedly fired on a group of violent protestors in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, police officials said. The protestors pelted stones on a security force convoy passing through Ganovpora village in Shopian district, they said. The security forces allegedly fired few rounds to chase away the protestors in which several persons were injured, the officials said. Two of the injured persons, identified as Javaid Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javid Lone, succumbed to injuries, they said. The officials said another youth was rushed to a hospital in Srinagar in a critical condition for specialised treatment. A constable deployed for the security of a Chhattisgarh Congress leader was today injured in an attack by Naxals who also looted his AK-47 rifle in Dantewada district, police said. The Congress leader, Avdhesh Gautam, was not present at the time of the attack which took place at around noon, they said.
