Today, the Supreme Court stayed key provisions of the 2025 Waqf Amendment Act for seven days, instructing the Centre to maintain the status quo. The government assured that no appointments would be made to the Central Waqf Council or Auqaf Boards, and existing waqf properties under the 1995 Act would remain unaffected.
