ISRO to launch Chandrayaan 2 Mission on June 15

Bengaluru, June 12 (ANI): Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today announced the launch date of India's second mission to the moon. Chandrayaan-2 Mission is scheduled to be launched on July 15 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. While addressing a press conference ISRO Chairman Dr. K Sivan said, "ISRO has firmed up that Chandrayaan 2 Mission will be launched on July 15 after early morning at 2 hours 51 minutes." "The Chandrayaan 2 Mission contains three components and the composite body of Chandrayaan 2 is kept inside GSLV MK-III," he added further,Chandrayaan 2 Mission mainly the satellite portion, including the support from foreign agencies as well as for navigation purpose, has cost the Country Rs. 603 crore.

Islamic scholar hails Centre's decision to connect madrasas with mainstream education system

New Delhi, June 12 (ANI): Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JUH) general secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani hailed the centre's decision of connecting madrasas with mainstream education for the betterment of children studying in the Islamic seminaries.While speaking to ANI, Maulana Mahmood said, "We will always welcome such initiatives." He said, with this decision Muslims will also be able to equally contribute to the development of the country." "If this isn't just an announcement and will be turned into actions, it will be Sabka Saath- Sabka Vikas in true sense," he added. Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced that madrasas will be connected with mainstream education.

Madurai school classrooms get attractive train compartment makeover

Madurai (TN), June 12 (ANI): Classrooms at Madurai's Higher Secondary School have been designed differently to attract admissions. The classrooms have been artistically designed like train compartments. The school is located at Meenakshi Bazaar near Madurai Railway Station. This school has been functioning for over 150 years comprising of more than 2000 students. It also has a primary section consisting of more than 100 students. This conceptualized train is directed towards Madurai from Chennai.

RIAF intensifies search operation to trace missing AN-32 aircraft

Arunachal Pradesh, Jun 12 (ANI): Indian Air Force (IAF) continued search operation in the area where wreckage of missing AN-32 aircraft was found yesterday. On June 3, the AN-32 with 13 personnel onboard had last contacted ground sources from Arunachal Pradesh. The plane went missing after taking off from Jorhat air base in Assam. Parts of the missing IAF AN-32 aircraft were found north of Lipo in Arunachal Pradesh on June 11. An extensive search for the aircraft has been going on ever since it went missing. After an extensive search for eight days, the wreckage of the aircraft was located by the crew of a Mi-17 V5 chopper in a valley of Arunachal Pradesh. Indian Air Force has continued search operation in the area where wreckage of missing AN-32 aircraft was found yesterday.

Malda (West Bengal), Jun 12 (ANI): After witnessing an uptick in political violence in West Bengal in the last week, a BJP worker's body was found in mutilated condition in state's Malda region. The TMC-ruled state is continuously seeing a hike in killing of political murders ever since the BJP made huge inroads in the state after the Lok Sabha elections. Both parties have accused each other of unleashing political violence in the state. After last week's incident in North 24 Parganas's Sandeshkhali where two BJP workers and a TMC member were killed during clashes, the already heightened relations between the two parties have worsened.

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Jun 12 (ANI): A Spice Jet flight made an emergency landing at Jaipur airport at 9:03 am on Wednesday. The Dubai-Jaipur SG 58 flight with 189 passengers onboard had to make an emergency landing after one of its tires burst. Passengers were safely evacuated.

Deadly Encephalitis Syndrome claims lives of 31 children in Bihar's Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Jun 12 (ANI): At least 31 children have died in Bihar's Muzaffarpur reportedly due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). Encephalitis is a viral infection which causes mild flu like symptoms such as a fever or headache. While speaking to ANI, Sunil Shahi, Superintendent, S. K. Medical College and Hospital, Muzaffarpur, said, "From January to June 2, 13 patients were admitted, of them, 3 died. From June 2 to this day 86 people were admitted, of them 31 died. So far in 2019, the syndrome has claimed 34 died."

Tourists suffer due to thick smoke from forest fire incidents in HP's Dharamshala

Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), Jun 12 (ANI): Forest fire has engulfed parts of Himachal Pradesh's Dharamshala. Tourists faced severe problems due to the smoke. The smoke has gripped the town very badly for the last two days. District Administration has issued directions to the forest officials to investigate the reasons of fire. Speaking to ANI, one of the tourists said, "We came here every year to enjoy the weather but as compared to last years it is warmer here due to forest fire. The smoke is creating troubles in breathing. It is not like previous years. We are feeling different. People and animals are suffering due to forest fire." Deputy Commissioner of Kangra, Rakesh Prajapati said, "We have issued directions to the forest officials to investigate the reasons of fire and to take legal action against culprits."

Sight-seeing limited to 3-hour at Taj Mahal, tourists unhappy

Agra (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 12 (ANI): A latest circular has come into force, which now restricts visitors to spend more than 3 hours at the iconic monument. Turnstile gates have been introduced to watch over time spent by tourists. "7 turnstile gates have been installed at both the East and West entry point. 5 gates are for the exit. For the entry of foreign tourists, there are separate gates. Entry is only through token which is valid for three hours, exceeding which, a visitor is required to recharge it at the counter at the exit gates," said Basant Kumar, superintendent, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Tourists are dismayed by the new rules, asserting that it would cost heavily on tourism. Speaking to ANI, a tourist from Hyderabad, said, "A person comes here for relaxation and to spend some time. If the sightseeing is limited to three hours and the charges are so much then anyone will think twice before coming here."

Railway police personnel brutally thrash journalist in UP's Shamli

Shamli (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 12 (ANI): A journalist was thrashed by GRP personnel in UP's Shamli. Rakesh Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO), Government Railway Police (GRP) and Constable Sunil Kumar, have been suspended. GRP personnel allegedly thrashed a journalist who was covering the goods train derailment near Dhimanpura. The journalist claimed that one of the persons hit his camera which fell down. When he picked it up they hit and abused him. He also alleged that he was locked up, stripped and they urinated in his mouth.

IMD issues red alert for cyclone 'Vayu' in Gujarat

Dwarka (Gujarat), Jun 12 (ANI): India Meteorological Department has issued red alert in Gujarat's Dwarka. Around 3 lakh people are to be evacuated. A deep depression over the east-central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea has intensified into cyclonic storm 'Vayu' and is likely hit the Gujarat coast by June 13. Earlier while speaking to ANI, Deputy Director General Meteorology, Mumbai IMD, KS Hosalikar said, "Cyclone 'Vayu' is expected to hit the coast in Gujarat between Porbandar and Veraval early 13th June morning speeding up to 110-120 kmph and gusting up to 135-140 kmph."

Animals hit by water scarcity in MP's Damoh

Damoh (Madhya Pradesh), Jun 12 (ANI): Animals are dying due to water scarcity in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh area. Earlier people from several villages of Damoh district had demanded ponds in every village as the district was facing severe water crisis. While speaking to ANI, a local of Harrai village in Damoh said, "Animals in the area are dying due to water scarcity." A forest official informed that the information was sought from SDO, as per him there hasn't been a major incident. Efforts are being made to provide water there. SDO directed for investigation.

Police seize 82 kg marijuana, 5 held in Telangana's Ranga Reddy

Ranga Reddy (Telangana), Jun 12 (ANI): As much as 82 kg marijuana was seized and five drug peddlers were nabbed here on Tuesday after the Special Operations Team of LB Nagar zone along with Meerpet police conducted a joint operation. Sudheer Babu, Additional Commissioner, Rachakonda, said: "We have taken the initiative to curb the tentacles of drug peddlers. We have nabbed five people, who were possessing marijuana." Police said that all five - Phangitelli Teja, Kamoji Kondal, Subedar Vinod Singh, Vandalam Nagarjuna, and Chadala Chinnabbai -- were indulged in procuring the contraband drug from Vizag. They used to sell the contraband around Hyderabad. Police have also seized four travel bags, seven mobile phones, Rs 30,000 cash, and one vehicle. One gunny bag containing 41 packets of marijuana was recovered from their possession. Each bag contained 2 kg of marijuana. Police have registered a case in this regard. Further probe is on.
