New Delhi, May 05 (ANI): Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will remain the Prime Minister of the country even after the Lok Sabha elections. "The history of India demonstrates that whenever any a prince or any foreigner has ruled us, they have only robbed us. Now, all the citizens and all the 'Chowkidars' won't let the country be robbed again," said Oberoi. The Bollywood actor essayed the life of PM Modi in his biopic 'PM Narendra Modi.' Vivek was in New Delhi to take part in Bharatiya Janata Party campaign at the India Gate.

Girl hacked to death in UP's Agra

Agra (UP), May 05 (ANI): A girl hacked to death by her neighbour in Agra's Khandauli of Uttar Pradesh. After knowing about the heinous murder, the family members along with neighbours created ruckus and raised slogans against police. However, they were pacified by the police officials. According to the Agra Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Verma, "body has been sent for postmortem. Her family is at the police station registering a complaint. Case will be registered soon and strict action will be taken against the culprit." The accused managed to flee from the spot taking cover of darkness. The body of the girl has been sent for the post-mortem. Police have started the investigation and searching for the accused.

Fani Aftermath: Naveen Patnaik conducts aerial survey of cyclone-hit areas

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), May 05 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on May 4 conducted an aerial survey of the extremely severe cyclone 'Fani' hit areas. After an aerial review of the affected areas, Patnaik said, "People in cyclone shelters will be provided cooked food for next 15 days and electricity and drinking water is being worked on war footing so that it is supplied to people very soon. Condition is bad. PM Modi spoke to me yesterday. Working very hard to restore the telecommunication."

Cyclone Fani: Ferocious winds leave trail of destruction in Odisha

Tarikund, Bhubaneswar (Odisha), May 05 (ANI): The extremely severe cyclone Fani battered several districts along the sea in Odisha on May 3. Odisha's capital city Bhubaneswar suddenly lost its tag of a 'pleasant city' in the wake of cyclone Fani that ripped through the state's coastal belt. Lack of adequate water supply worsened the crisis. People lined up for water in many parts of the region. Bhubaneswar was left paralysed and enveloped in darkness like a proverbial ghost town. Cyclone Fani uprooted trees and triggered rains and damaged houses in many parts of the state. Extensive damage to telecommunications and power infrastructure was reported from Puri, Bhubaneshwar and other parts of Odisha. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the death toll was only in single digit but did not give the exact figure. He said a record 1.2 million people were evacuated in 24 hours and called it one of the biggest human evacuations in history.

'Such people untie my shoelaces': Varun Gandhi targets SP-BSP joint candidate in Sultanpur

Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh), May 04 (ANI): Targeting opposition candidate in Sultanpur Bharatiya Janata Party leader Varun Gandhi, who boasted of being the son of Sanjay Gandhi, said that such people "untie his shoelaces". Varun was targeting Sonu Singh, the joint SP-BSP candidate from Sultanpur, and his brother Monu Singh, who are said to be the local strongmen, and urged the people to not get scared of any "Monu or Tonu". Varun, who is the incumbent MP from Sultanpur, has swapped seats with his mother Maneka Gandhi, and is contesting from the Pilibhit parliamentary constituency.

FM Jaitley questions Congress chief's role in defence deal during UPA rule

New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): Bhartiya Janta Party leader (BJP) Arun Jaitley took a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi claiming that he was a partner in UK firm Backops Limited. While addressing a press conference, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, "It's story of a man who aspired to be a defence deal pusher and today aspires to be India's Prime Minister. It's a serious charge and I think it's my responsibility to make good discharge". Arun Jaitley named Rahul Gandhi in a conference and said he is putting allegations on others but he himself became part of a corporate group which had no business except pushing transactions. It's a govt-to-govt contract with France. He also asked congress to give answer to the matter.

Locals at world's second highest polling station demand for development work

Lahaul-Spiti (Himachal Pradesh), May 04 (ANI): Local's of Himachal Pradesh's village Hikkim are still struggling to return to normal life after severe snowfall in winters. Village Hikkim is the second highest polling station in the world. It is situated at an altitude of 14,567 feet above from Sea level. It was earlier regarded as the highest polling station. This year another polling booth would be set up by Election Commission at Tashigang at an altitude of 15,256 ft making it Worlds highest polling station for upcoming General Election on May 19, 2019. A local shared the troubles faced by villagers on daily basis. He said, "The condition is bad here. There is issue of clean water as well. I would like to request the government to sort this problem so that people can participate in this election with great enthusiasm."

New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was slapped by an unidentified person when the former was conducting a roadshow in the national capital. Kejriwal was waving at the crowd from an open jeep when the unknown person climbed up the vehicle to hit the Chief Minister. The assailant was, however, immediately taken down by Kejriwal's supporters. Cyclone Fani: 1.2 million people evacuated in 24 hours, says CM Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), May 04 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik addressed media after Cyclone Fani hit the coastal districts of the state. He informed, "A record of 1.2 million people were evacuated in 24 hours, 3.2 lakh from Ganjam, 1.3 lakh from Puri and almost 7000 kitchens catering to 9000 shelters were made functional overnight. 'Cross border operations' did take place in past: DS Hooda on Congress' '6 surgical strikes' claim

Jaipur (Rajasthan), May 04 (ANI): Speaking on Congress party's claim that armed forces had carried out six surgical strikes in UPA era, Retired Lieutenant General D.S. Hooda, who had helmed the 2016 surgical strikes, on Saturday said that the Army, in the past, carried out "cross border operations". He, however, added that he is not aware of the "exact dates and areas" mentioned by the Congress leader Rajeev Shukla. "Call it surgical strikes, call it cross border operations, they have been carried out in the past by the Army. I am not aware of exact dates and areas that have been brought out," Hooda told media in Jaipur.
